Ok, so I have been ignoring this problem for a year now, but with Winter coming, I figured I'd try to solve it.

When using the kitchen sink (filling it for dish washing), during the release of the hot soapy water, the shower drain allows water to blow up into the shower.

I've been told that perhaps the vent is blocked. Or beyond that, it appears that the P-trap (or S-trap) is not doing it's job.

(Bathroom sink does not cause the same problem).

To start with, I'm not even sure how to reach the underside of the Shower.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Bathroom sink goes to black tank(usually).
You have a blocked vent.
It is not under the shower.
It is on the roof.

Many youtube videos will guide you through various solutions.(picture...1000 words...yadda yadda).
If they dont work for you report back here and we'll walk you through alternatives.

To start with, I'm not even sure how to reach the underside of the Shower.

There is usually a panel about 6" - 8" tall under the shower. It may be nailed (stapled) in place. Gently prying around the edges will allow you to remove (and then re-use) the panel.

But first see if the vent pipe (that goes up through the roof) is clear. The vent pipe usually has some sort of cap that is (hopefully) removable so you can make sure the pipe is clear. The cap may be snapped or screwed in place.

I would start with getting a picture of your plumbing diagram from TMC. Hopefully you can get it in 3D.

I don't want to insult you, but the 1st thing that crossed my mind was that if you had a full Gray tank that would happen by design. Are you 100% sure thre gray tank drains lines are clear?

Vent is the other likely issue, pictures of you gray tanks vents would help. Could leaves have clogged it etc. You can find out by taking a water hose and flushing your vent line from the roof and watching it safely come out the gray tank drain.

You are using too much of the very foamy soap. It is no good to your health. The bubbles have to go somewhere when they fill the tank. Use less and use dishwasher soap instead. That one is less foamy. There might not be any vent in your motorhome. I don't have any in my Gemini

I have the same issue and had it checked out by my local RV tech and he said its a design flaw with the drain and would be expensive to tear it all out.
When emptying the kitchen sink we let the water out slowly and seems to work, the idea of putting a cloth over the drain is also a good idea.
