2023 Thor Four Winds Class C

Some manufacturers are finally starting to realize that RVs have become too complex, too expensive to buy, and too expensive to maintain/own for a large percentage of population. RVs today have more things that can go wrong than ever before.

Once basics of shelter are covered (bed, bathroom, kitchen, A/C and heat), how much added “value” do we really get from all the luxury add-ons, and at what cost? Part of problem is that added features improve manufacturers’ and dealers’ profitability, so they have an incentive to add options many campers don’t need, want, or should own if they were honest with themselves.

In recent years there has been a downsizing trend, and perhaps de-contenting is next. Keep It Simple Stupid may be the next wave.

We’ll put. Do you really want to control flushing your toilet with screen control. How bout hookin up the water & electric without me having to get out of the drivers seat. Like I said in another thread, I’m glad I’ve still got analog switches to control stuff.

We're analog switches absolutely on purpose.
But
We're analog heated toilet seat and analog electric blankets...voice controlled.

We're electric gray/black valves...with manual over ride.

I'm a macerator on a bayonet mount and carry a manual slinky as back up(yes actually. Me personally. You berry funny man)

I can, but don't have to.

One is none.

And
It's a kit.
If someone doesn't want the $60 microwave, pluck it out.

YES YES YES

We had a 2016 Thor Vegas for 7 years. Was a very positive experiance. A few issues, one self inflicted and repaired while on vacation. Little corrections/repairs and unit never let us down.

2nd dog made an issue with space, would not have hesitated to buy another Thor if there was unit available that fit needs within 200 miles.

Ended up S.O.B., if this gives same service we will be very happy.

We are self reliant, to us an RV is an appliance. Needs to be effective at what we need. Def not a car/truck. A little optimization/correction/repair is expected.

Service or repair we try to avoid, skill levels and work ethic not what was. None of dealer's I talked with belived our Vegas never went back for anything. I hope OP gets to comfortable point.

PS-little diff in quality overall but 12v fridge, latter water heater and factory tire monitor is way cool.

Yeah I'm definitely in the simple is better category bought the first one used and didn't inspect, fought a cab leak until I sold it to a plumber who said "no worries I'll fix it." Now have a brand new one, again without slides, if I want more space I go outside, after all isn't that the point of getting one? When my kids were small and we tent camped, my youngest saw into a Class A at the campground and said "Dad those people brought their living room with them!"
I like one I can take to National parks and park almost anywhere... but really to each their own, but the more you have the more you need to maintain.

Yep to each their own. I like to think with ours we brought a small motel room (with kitchen) with us... everything we need to be comfortable. We can easily fit into small parks.

Then there are some with 45' 5ers bigger than some apartments. With truck, that's more than twice our length. At least we can unhitch our toad and still maneuver.

YouTubers we watch have (I think) 1kW of lithium batteries... but NO SOLAR. I've yet to figure that one out...
