6 Volt VS 12 Volt

Mine was only due to the battery move from the steps to a bin snce I was redirecting cables and already laying on my back under there.
And
An absolutely unbelievable amount of noise and temperature came through the steps before I enclosed them.
Sometimes the battery box just roared depending on criss winds and road surface.
It's a source of discontent on axis/Vegas models.

I'll be adding kilmat to both sides of my screen door bottom to firm it all up and cut some noise.
Maybe the inside of the door bottom too while I'm at it.

Right you are. About 104 / 105 is most I can recall.

I am still learning what all the buzz is about Lithium battery cutoffs? If it is freezing outside why the need to charge the battery unless you are using it and if so, would the actual battery temperature be below 32F?


I have two La Crosse temp sensors so I move one into the battery compartment to watch during the winter. The other one is in my wet bay. It could be 28 outside temp but 45 in the wetbay. Maybe the battery compartment will be colder because it is not enclosed?

But for now, I will plan to just keep my SP disconnected when below freezing is in forecast.

With the advantage of Lithium batteries and the fact they are now cheaper than lead acid/AGM, I expect future RV's will start to be built with Lithium house batteries located in the interior heated/cooled space of the RV. They do not outgas and there is no acid to spill and corrode. As a minimum the battery compartment could be located in the same area as the holding tanks in a temperature controlled space.
 
I enclosed mine eliminating all leaks and insulating with foam sheet and kilmat.
It was one of the more hateful jobs I've done on the rv.

Ssssoooo many gaps and stupid angles.

If I were to do it again I'd cut five gallon pickle buckets Into slabs and squares and heat mold them to fit with an hf heat gun.
Screw one side somewhere flat(ish) and heat bend the plastic around the stupid edges and angles.
I would be careful about fully enclosing LFP batteries, as they tend to heat up considerably when being heavily charged or discharged. Charging my golf cart batteries at 0.3c will heat them up about 30 F in four hours (parked in the shade). The battery compartment is under the seat and only open in a few places between the battery compartment's floor. My Dork battery monitor has a compartment temperature monitor. I have to be carefully about charging the golf cart in 100+ F days as one of the batteries will over temp and shut down. The single battery over temp will shut off my automatic fully charger. Thus in the summer most of my charging is done at night.

I wouldn't worry about the discharge temperature increase unless you are powering an A/C.
