Adjustable water regulator

Brad & TNT
Go to your favorite home supply store & get "Watts" 3/4" household regulator, doesn't come with a gauge, but you can put a hose Y with a gauge all for about what you paid for that other thing(had one & it was a POS also).

Did thee same as Danny. Went to the local plumbing wholesaler and bought a residential one. No pressure gauge, but 1 turn increases or reduces the pressure by 15 psi. Could get a Y and a gauge if interested.

Only downside is being a bit larger than the compact alternatives.

I bit the bullet and figured if I sleep in a Ritz Carlton I should have a fancy schmancy water regulator with a gauge and everything.

Went to use it for the first time this spring and it takes pressure to read "0". I think it froze.....

Word of caution.

I have the same regulator. Using it in Florida last winter, the temperature unexpectedly went down to 19* one night and the gauge has been stuck at 40 psi ever since!!:trash:

I have the same Valterra regulator and found out that the gauge doesn't like below freezing temps, even a light freeze that we experienced returning from the south in March did the gauge in.

I went to a local plumbing store and got a "cheapie" replacement gauge ($7), and with some teflon tape on the threads I'm back in business. I think the thread size for that gauge is 1/4 inch. I took the gauge to the store so it could be matched.

I also have the other Valterra regulator that is just a sized orifice type as a spare, the pressure setting isn't adjustable but it's more bulletproof than the adjustable one.

Well I guess I'll try replacing the gauge to salvage it because it still flows water. If the freeze did more damage than I can see, then I'll look for alternatives.

Yes, I know those gauges are fragile. The one on our pool pump/filter broke ALL the time, and we finally quit using it. I suppose it would be good to use a portable one, put it one to "set" the pressure desired, and then REMOVE the gauge and store it in a dry, unfrozen place!

Replaced 2 gauges, 1 hi dollar, 1 cheap, both froze, then I got smart and put inside filter area, no issues since, btw moved filter outside, into cooler, painted black.
