Hey all!! With everyone moving to Florida, we’re selling our condo just north of Palm Beach area and need to make one last trip down tomorrow to get our personal stuff. So…we’re taking our Class B Sequence and wanted to take a route down that’s not the boring I-95 the whole way. Forgot the wife got me a Good Sam membership for Christmas until last night and used their travel planner. At first it gave me 95 to Baltimore, picked up 81, 77, 26 then join 95. However, I notice there was an icon for car and one for RV. I clicked on RV and it took away that route.

Any reason those interstate highways would not be good for a Class B RV? Thanks…

Those highways (81,77, and 26) are all good routes for RV's. You might want to check your preferences for rv specs in the good sam mapping program to make sure it has your rv specs mirror your preferences.

Depending on where you are in NJ you might want to get to 81 without going to Baltimore first even if it adds a few miles to the trip.

Thank you!! The Good Sam Trip Planner is good in my opinion just a little “clunky” for me finding everything. I did find where you could input height which for our Class B Sequence is only 10.5’ and just didn’t understand why it wouldn’t give us that route. I couldn’t imagine there would be an overpass that low on an interstate highway.

We only got an RV a year ago but did a couple trips including coming back from Maine via Vermont and Hudson Valley which the RV handled fine once I realized you had to build up speed at the bottom of the hills\mountains. Thought GS didn’t give us that route because of terrain???

We’re in south Jersey. I’ll take a look at the roads heading down to 81 from Lancaster. The routing I saw had us taking the loop around Baltimore but yeah…traffic can get bad even on a Wednesday mid-morning.

For the opposite of 95, how about:
Go east to 9
9 South to Cape May
Ferry to Lewes
Down the eastern shore
Across the CBBT
Continue on 13 to I64
I64 to south 165
165 to the Outer Banks
Outer Banks south to Hatteras
Hatteras to Ocracoke via Ferry
Ocracoke to Cedar Island via ferry
17 south to Wilmington and Charleston
Continue on 17 to I95 south at Yemassee

Thank Ted…we’ll take a look at that route. Would definitely be an easier drive, terrain wise.

We got a book for Christmas “USA RV Adventures” and they mention that route but run it all the way down to Key West. Unfortunately the RV will be loaded on the way back and we’ll have to overnight in a hotel on the way back up, so we’ll probably do 95, just to get it over with.

Lancaster PA? I'd take Rt 30 west to I-81.

Thanks all for your help. We ended up going across the CBBT to Virginia Beech THEN the wife started looking at things and put in an RV park around Sellers, SC. It wasn’t as cool a trip Ted above stated. It really was a welcome relief from going anywhere near DC.

My favorite Interstate is I-81 but it ends as it meets I-40 just east of Knoxville.

If you are going to do mostly Interstates then there is no easy way to get to Florida from New Jersey. Even through I-95 sucks, so does I-75 going thru Atlanta. We always try to go through Atlanta on Sunday morning.

We actually did that trip 2 years ago, stopped at Little Creek Amphib Base, Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground, And Cherry Point Marine Base (very nice campground) along the way. Great Trip.

US Route 1 all the way. I’ve run the south end of US 1 from MP Zero in Key West up as far as Richmond, Virginia. It was an interesting drive.

I intend to run the north end from Fort Kent, Maine south to Richmond this fall.
