We spent a few extra bucks to have our 36RL painted.  It's really classy looking!  A few weeks ago we took it in for the first visit to the shop to have a few minor things done under the warranty.  One of the items was the seal between the front cap and the roofing.  It seemed to be pulling apart.  When the technician worked on the seam the roofing material ripped.  Now the service manager says we need to replace the roofing and has moved forward with Crossroads to order the new roof.  Only one catch.  When the unit was painted the paint design went from the bottom to the very top and is included on the rolled part of the roofing.  In other words, there is a 4 or 5 inch section of the roof line on each side that was painted as part of the graphics we paid extra for.  Now, they want to replace the roof.  The replacement will not have the continuation of the graphics at the top.  So, we will have a nicely painted surface up to where the roof is secured on each side and then a white rolled section up to the roof.  Not acceptable!!  We paid dearly for that paint.  In our opinion the new roof should match the one being replaced. 
Anyone else encountered this problem???

Grandpa, I would be going to Brian and checking y.his out before this problem goes too far.

I noticed somewhere in the forum where the annual inspection was done at the selling dealer and the price was $0. Was this because other work was being done under warranty and they were at leaset making something off the deal or just good customer service...I understand most of the sertvice is just checking visible weld joints...seals and and windows and lamination...Anyone know for sure or have a copy of the inspection? Marketing would you respond to this issue?

I think this is an excellent topic to discuss at the Rally in August. Also, any of you that are not attending, and would like specific questions asked, I would be glad to present them to the Redwood specialists. We are having a factory tour on Sat 25 August and that would be a most opportune time to relay the issues. I will get answers and send those to the question originators as well as the rest of the forum members.

Has anyone really tested the trailer hitches yet? There's suppose to be a 300 lb limit on the tongue weight of the hitch. I'm hoping that they're under rated like on other trailers.

I want to put a motorcycle carrier back there for 2 Honda CT110's that would end up weighing around 400 lbs plus the rack which would put the total weight at 475 lbs.

Has anybody pushed the limits on these hitches yet?

From reading the posts of late, I think a good question would be about the insulation in the front cap. How can we fix that issue? Plus removing the heat build-up in the entertainment/frig slides?

I think you were referring to battery cable colors in this post and a previous post. Your post made me curious, so, I check the cables on my 2012 36RL. They are black (negative) and red (positive) coming off the two batteries. I agree with you, it does seem strange thatRedwood would use any other colors. Black and red have been standard for as long as I can remember (about 55 years)anything about electronics and battery cablecolors. I am a soon to be retired (at age 70) electronics engineer.

You are correct Guy...Battery cable colors ...All of mine are Red except for the black electrical tape I put on the negative cables...so if I have to remove them for charging I will not cross them up when they go back in...I guess I need to call Brian Emmons as when I stopped by a local dealer of the same franchise they advised me they didn't have any black cables to replace them with...Maybe I'll send an email to the original store where we purchased the unit and ask them to order black cables to be replaced when we are in their area

Update on the painted roofing... this is from the service manager at the dealership where my unit is supposed to get a new roof...
"The side radius metal is removed for this process of putting on a new roof and then reinstalled when we are done. This eliminates the need to paint and have to do any of the graphics. The only thing that will be replaced is the rubber membrane. If you have any questions on this please let me know."
Lot's of questions! Anyone aware of a 'side radius metal' strip on each side of your Redwoods roof? When I look at it, I see a strip of paint on each side of the existing roofing material. If the roofing is changed, the rubber membrane is no longer painted. Am Iseeing this correctly???

Is there something I'm missing??
I have sent my issue to Brian Edmonds as someone suggestedwith no response. Kinda frustrating!
I'm not replacing the roofing until I get assurance that the graphics and paint will not be affected.

The edge of the roof is painted black to match the coach. if they replace the roofing materials, the edge will be white and will have to be repainted black. that is one of the paint problems with ours. in one area, the black paint has peeled off. also. if the side radius moulding is damaged on removal and I think that will happen,the new one will have to be painted to match.

The roof is NOT a rubber membrane it is vinyl. Make sure they do not use rubber

I know Brian is usually going 90mph. I think I'd keep calling until I got his attention. But personally I wish I had some aluminum flashing on the edges so I wouldn't worry about tree limbs rubbing it as much.

The radius above the drip rail is made of metal but the roof membrane covers it. The body paint in on the roof membrane, not the metal. The person that told you otherwise is confused.
If the roof membrane is replaced, it will have to be painted to match the side panels or left white.

I just completed the installation of the Progressive Industries EMS-HW50C in my 36RL (with generator option)

I installed the EMS-HW50C underneath the hydraulic brake controller in the battery compartment.
I removed the power cord feed from the transfer switch and rerouted it to the EMS-HW50C.
I then ran a new length of #6-3C cable from the EMS-HW50C back to the transfer switch.

I then mounted the remote display in the closet and ran the "phone" data cable from there, down through the side of the closet into the "basement". From there I dropped it down a hole just behind the water panel and then forward to the battery compartment where it then plugs into the EMS-HW50C.

I'll add a couple of more pictures showing the final installation later.

Took a few hours to install ... with a couple of "duhs!" along the way. The data cable supplied was not long enough but I had a nice long length of phone cable. Turns out it needs to be "Yellow-Green-Red-Black" on both ends but my cable was "YGRB" on one end and "BRGY" on the other. Solution was simply to cut the cable in the middle (in the basement) and simply reconnect the wires swapped around. I had help from my son-in-law to pull the wires as he is considerably smaller than my 250 lb body! I also ran a piece of twine once I ran the "fish" so I could add any additional cables later if needed for any other mods.

Ian, so the surge protector goes in between the 50A campground feed andthe transfer switch. That makes sense.

I wonder if generators can produce a surge, in which case the surge protector would be installed between the transfer switch and the breaker box. Maybethe Onan has it's own protector in the output (?)

The instructions gave both options ... but I called Progressive and they recommended installing BEFORE the transfer switch. I sent an email to Brian (Redwood) and he also stated that the surge protector should be installed before the transfer switch ... so that's the way I installed it!

The problem, is if installed after the Transfer Switch you have to bond the Ground an Neutral out of the Genny or the EMS will not let anything pass. So before is the easiest and best.
