Hello -- my name is Beth and I live in Albuquerque. My parents had a travel trailer when I was a child but that was a loooong time ago. I have a new Thor Citation I purchased in August. I work full time but already have managed to put a couple of thousand miles on it. I am very much a newbie and find a lot of things about the rig to be overwhelming. But I'm an eager learner. My travel buddy is a 2 year old golden retriever named Henry and he's a great companion. We're learning about RV'ing together. I know I will learn a lot here and look forward to being part of this community!

Congratulations and welcome.

Wow that 24ST has a very similar floorplan to our Axis.

Which one did you get?

You have just got on the best forum around. The people on here are the greatest and smartest. I am also new (1 year) and I have learned so much on this sight. Have fun and safe travels.

Welcome Beth! I too went camping with my family while young and that is the reason I purchased the motorhome - happy times!

RVing with a dog is a great way to travel. I wish we had a separate topic area for people on this forum that have camped somewhere that allows dogs and what they thought of it. Our first question to any prospective campground is, do you have a dog park? Second question, do you allow exercise pens?

Some people think that a fenced in 10' x 10' area constitutes a dog park. It would be nice to have accurate info on dog friendly campgrounds.

Good luck with your new unit,

Fred

Totally agree and we do not stay at areas that are not pet friendly. We found that most KOA campgrounds are pet friendly and as a general rule of thumb have a decent pet exercise area.

In our case we don't have a dog but rather a four legged family member that happens to have a tail and speaks a different language.

Maybe we should start a thread in the RV Lifestyle section or ask the moderators to start a new section.

Beth,

Welcome to the forum.

I think it would be fantastic to start a new section on campgrounds that accept pets!
From what I have seen, there are a lot of rv'ers with pets. We travel with our 2 Britts and the best thing is they listen better than kids, don't ask to borrow the car or money and we don't have to worry about them when they are off to college.

Hello Beth. I grew up in Alb...go Hornets! Graduated from Highland High Class of 1971. Welcome and wishing you all the best in your RV future.

4 months RVing and on this Forum for most of it
.

Congratulations. "Henry's RV" says it all. :thumb:

Our first motorhome was purchased in large part so we could travel easier with two small dogs -- and we all loved it. Dogs and motorhomes just seem to go together.

Dogs and RVs do go together.

My co-pilot (Marta) supervising the pre-flight checks on our old coach before leaving for Nashville last November.

When we purchased our latest MH, the dogs were a consideration. The MH had to have 2 A/C's to make sure the dogs were comfortable. Marta looks like a real sweetheart.

I went with the 24SR. I didn't really want a second slide, but like the queen size bed and the fact there is some space around the bed.

Thank you all for the great welcome!

I would like a thread or forum on traveling with dogs, too. Suggestions, great locations, etc. I'm having to learn how to do the things I want to do while making sure my dog is safe and happy. It is different than traveling with other people, and he's a youngster, so places with some place he can run off his energy is a critical feature for us.

It really is Henry's RV

OK, since it's Henry's RV, I guess I should share this:
Henry has his riding place on the loveseat with his seatbealt harness.

Beautiful dog. Henry makes a bee-line for the driver's seat whenever I step out if he isn't belted in. I suppose he's trying to tell me something. We took an 8 hour drive to the Grand Canyon recently. I do wish he could have helped with the driving!

Congratulations on your new MH and Henry is very handsome. Until recently we
also traveled with a Golden. She was almost 14 yrs old.

Thank you all for the great welcome!

We started 2 threads in the lifestyle section of the forum yesterday. One thread to introduce the pets and another on pet friendly RV parks. Already getting some good discussions going.

Pets and Camping

Hope all are doing well in their travels with Pets. Our younger dog, Munpi (pronouced Moon Pie), likes to take the Helm when I step down to check in/out of a site.
The first attachment is what she perceives to be her duty station.
The second attach is her preferred day time campsite sleeping arrangement. The older lab prefers the floor looking out the door (no pictures avail).

HI Beth/Henry, I have the same 24SR. It's a 2015 on a 2014 Sprinter. I've had trouble with the Skylight that they replaced, also the stairs broke and they put another New Model on as a replacement. The stairs look much stronger. Other than that I am very happy with the unit. Went to the Mercedes Dealers today and was wondering about service. They said it's all in the instrument panel and not to worry. The panel will tell you when service is needed, being a value of TIME or Mileage. Also wondered how I would charge the Sprinter Battery. He opened the hood and there is a RED push cover that when pushed and turned will expose a RED Terminal post and off to the right side on the fender wall is another black. That was helpful as I live in Maine and didn't want to take the battery out from under the drivers seat or under the floorboard. Asked another thing about how I was going to check the tire pressure and again he said not to worry as it had 6 TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitors) on each tire. Still would be nice to have the valve extensions so we could check. Good luck on your Thor. Also have a travel buddy and it's a Double Doodle.
