Hello from Northern California! I just wanted to drop a line here and introduce myself. We recently picked up a beautiful 2015 Vegas 24.1. We’ve only spent one night in it before putting it in storage until the snow melts here at home.

I’ve already gleaned a great bit of information from the members here, thank you. I know I still have questions and will need some guidance, so thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Feel free to ask any questions and enjoy your new to you camper.

Hello, welcome, and congratulations on your new home Newb. Happy you bought yours, how did the "ban" on rv purchases in California that went into effect start of 2025 effect you purchase? I find California to be a beautiful state, nice place to visit.
We have a 2017 Vegas 24.1 that we are very happy with and have found and learned some good stuff on this forum.
Happy Trails

There is no "ban on RV purchases" in California or any other state.
Perhaps you didn't notice my reply had ban in quotes. let me post what I am referring to for your clarification...

Doing a search on "rv ban in calif" - i get the following...

California does not have regulations or laws prohibiting the full-time habitation of an RV, but most full-time RVers stay at RV parks, campgrounds, or other legal spots. However, starting in 2025, California's Advanced Clean Trucks regulation will create a near-total "ban" on motorhome sales in the state and in additional states that follow California Air Resource Board regulations.

I hope that explains what I was referring to ACE.
Newb, don't let his curt response discourage you from asking for help, posting your thoughts.

Without getting into the weeds, the restrictions are CARB based and affect diesel manufacturers selling NEW non-fleet based vehicles. Ford is generally exempt because of carbon credits spread across it's fleet of CARB compliant gasoline engines. It basically affects manufacturers of larger diesel chassis (like Freightliner) with no basis of CARB fleet compliant vehicles to offset carbon credits.

So… we’ve been dealing with the CARB restrictions at my last job(18 years with CA StateParks) for a few years now. The diesels need HUSS filters and California approved clean idle. It varies by county as well so I can see how it would get sticky. We were looking at diesel motor homes, as all my trucks have been diesel, but we weren’t ready to take on that higher expense. This awesome little Vegas is our “tester” to see if we enjoy RVing. Now we just need to sell these crazy theater seats and install a dinette.

Funny... We would gladly trade our uncomfortable dinette for comfy theater seats with lagun tables!! But those won't fit in our class C. Different strokes! 🙂
