Fixing things properly is what the second owning an RV is about. With my old fifth wheel, for the first two years I thought I was using more propane than I was burning. On a cross country trip I ordered an electronic gas detector that I had delivered to my sister in law. Could not smell anything. Found the leak at the water heater connection. So sensitive that it pin pointed the exact location on the fitting. Purchased gas pipe thread compound. Very small amount on the compression fitting surface. Never leaked again. Over the trip out to the east coast we used two bottles. The rest was only 3/4 bottle. We actually used the furnace for the last four days on the way back. First thing I did when I got the Palazzo, I went over all the gas lines. The gas detectors do not cost much. You do have to wave them around until the warning beep stops. Make it more sensitive and wave it around again.
