I'm finally going to get around to installing this surge protector that I've hauled all over the country for the last year. I went back trough the old threads trying to find the pictures that Ian had posted but can't find them.

If my memory serves me correctly.....there were special instructions because I have a generator. Anybody want to share their experiences installing the hardwired surge protector. I'm installing the "Surge Guard 34560"

Dave, just be sure to put it upstream of the ATS, that way when the genny kicks in, the surge protector is out of service

I installed the Surge Guard 40240 on my 38 RL. I do have the factory onan generator and I installed it downstream of the transfer switch. This surge protector has a switch where you can bypass the monitoring, but I have used the generator with the surge protector on and have had no issues works like a charm! I bought some 6 gauge wire I believe from lowes and moved the transfer switch over to the left a bit and installed the protector right beside it above the batteries. Very easy to install just a bit hard to get in there and do it. The hardest part was running the remote display wire from the battery comp to the coat closet. I can get a picture if you'd like.

Oh I forgot you take the output wire from the transfer switch and install it on the output side on the surge protector, then cut a 2-3 ft piece of wire and attach between the two.
