Auto leveling

My RV was level so I put the slides out. Now, a month later, it is not level. Should I pull the slides back in before I try to relevel it, or should I leave them out?

If it were me, I would retract the slide first, for the "just in case" factor.

On the manual operation of the level system, in manual mode is my preferred way. I have more control, and ours will eventually back & forth raise until the front tires are off the ground in auto level.
To lower manually, then choose retract, then use the front-rear-left-right choice buttons and only those will move during the push of that button.
Ours, the side or front you choose move the jacks in pairs for given choice.

As far as jacking pads, I like to spread the weight, as a lot of times I am on mowed grass where I camp, and the jack's pads seem to sink in some, giving that "not level any longer" over time. They seem to help, only I use 2 foot lengths of 4x4's.

I only use manual. In auto mode the system sends all 4 jacks down until ground contact then tries to level. If rear are down and slope is to the front, the front tires will raise off the ground.

Snap pads help to avoid the feet from curling up.

To keep the thread alive here goes again

Manual level for many reasons

Especially if needing to correct settled rigs

I use 2x12x3' planks but i do have a bit more weight

Often i only use two jacks

I like the Tuscany to be as low to the ground as possible

For the record I manually level for same reasons as most of above AND I have Snap Pads. As a senior (insert fat old guy) with bad knees, I do not need to be crawling around under our coach any more than is necessary. Getting down on all fours isn't the issue it's getting back up that is a SOB! ;)

As far as to the OP's original question, I believe there is no right or wrong on adjusting level after slides are out. My personal preference is to pull the slides back in, I think there is less stress on the slide. I wonder what would be Schwintek's take on the question?

NO, NO, NO!!!! always relevel if you detect it out of levle. we have to have our unit repaired because we did that and the slide gears chewed up the rails! Save yourself a lot of heartache and money always be level and on your jacks when using the slides - the big ones!

OK I had to try it. Yes this works good, you can momentarily press the RETRACT ALL JACKS, as the jacks retract, when you lift finger, the jacks will stop. Right now i am jacking the Azz end up to have all the water run off of the front of the RV during the heavy rains, so the front jacks are retracted up and rear jacks are adjusted accordingly.

I thought this was an all or nothing switch, where you pressed it, and all jacks raised, whether you lifted you finger or not.

I know this is off the main Blog topic here.

FYI this is the 2021 THOR ACE 30.4. My last Class C RV was a Freedom Elite AUTO drive up and onto the AUTOZONE car ramps, and carpenters bubble level.

On our LCI panel, if you are in Manual mode, you can hold Retract and then select the pair you want to retract with the 4 way buttons. (hope that made sense) Pushing Retract All in manual mode does nothing here.

I have the same problem My auto level works just fine but after 2-3 weeks my right front goes down a bit
if i were to try AUTO LEVEL with the slides out will the system cycle thru and bring all the jacks up? Or will it just readjust the level. I wouldn’t want it to cycle thru with the slides out.

Why don't you just manually bring the sagging side up?

BTW, I use the levelers with the slides out on occasion, and have suffered no ill effects.

Keep simple things simple!

While you could...
Retract the slide(s)
Pack everything up
Raise the jacks
Drive the motorhome around in a circle
Park
Use auto level
etc. etc...

All that's needed is a SIMPLE manual bump of the "problem" jacks. Unless you're racking the jacks repeatedly up and down (shaking the entire motorhome), it won't hurt the slides.

Done!

I use 2"x12"x3' when using jacks on gravel or dirt sites. And I use manual level to keep the coach as low to the ground as possible. As Ace noted I do partially retract to relevel as needed.
