The 40" Axxera TV in our 2019 Four Winds 24F has poor volume, to hear it we need to max out the volume.

I decided to add a soundbar, which seemed simple. Instructions said to connect it the TV HDMI (ARC) port and power. Problem is there is no sound from it. Is there settings for the TV that need to be changed? This TV for the most part is only used with a Blu-ray player on HDMI 3.

Thanks,
Jim

There may be an ARC enable menu option in the TV settings but it would not surprise me if the Axerra TV does not have ARC technology.

I replaced all three Axxera tv’s in my rv a couple of weeks ago with smart tv’s for streaming (Starlink). I found there quality and sound to be terrible. Like pretty much everything else in the RV, Thor used the cheapest stuff they could get. The price of tv’s has dropped so much that it was just as cheap as adding firestick’s to the existing TVs. Quality of picture and sound improved.

Use the optical output to the soundbar

I know this isn't an answer to your query and I have a similar situation with my 2019 Palazzo 37.4. A sound bar was installed with the main TV but it's not getting a signal. The TV's built in sound is barley audible. We use the other TV to hear. I'll either replace all with smart TVs or find a streaming device.

I second the optical, I did that in my 31e, the volume is controlled by my fire stick but I need the sound bar remote to turn it on

Have to use tv remote to change tv sound to other..

I have the same coach and probably same TV and I added a Walmart Onn soundbar to it. Mine is working with using the TV remote or our Onn streaming stick remote for volume, I think these are the relevant points:
  • Plug it into the port labeled HDMI1 (ARC)
  • In the TV menu go to Setup->HDMI CEC (you have to scroll down a page to see it) and I have every single one turned ON.
    • One of them is HDMI ARC which is needed to send audio through that ARC port
    • The others are for remote control over HDMI which is also helpful to control volume and on/off with a TV or streaming device remote.
  • In that same HDMI CEC menu is an entry to list CEC devices, go in there and make sure your soundbar shows up in the list so you know it was detected. The name of mine in that list is just "AUDIO SYS <some random numbers>"
  • Maybe not relevant but in the Setup->Audio menu I have surround sound OFF and digital output set to PCM because these are just stereo speakers

I have occasionally needed to use the soundbar remote to turn its own volume up. I can't remember if I had to do that with HDMI unplugged or not but worth a shot, then use the TV remote to control volume normally. We normally use an Onn streaming stick plugged into HDMI2 on the TV and the remote for that seems to control the soundbar volume through HDMI CEC as well as turn both the TV and soundbar on and off with its power button. The Onn soundbar will annoying announce "Power on, HDMI" and "Power off" when it is being turned on/off so we know it's working.

The TV itself has fine picture quality although mine has a stuck purple pixel right in the middle. Pretty much all TVs on the market today have crap built-in speakers that point down or backwards. Several of the reviews of that Insignia complain about volume or quality so adding a soundbar is just an expected expense these days. The TV mounted on a swing arm over the overhead bunk has those little speakers muffled by the mattress underneath.

I also added a set of brackets that attach to the same screws as the TV VESA mount that holds the soundbar just above the TV with speakers pointing toward the listener so it can actually be heard.

Alexa will let you create a routine that will power on your soundbar when the tv is powered on. Lots of vids on YouTube. That will save you two button presses a day!
