Hi, all! New Thor Motor Coach owners here. She’s a ‘21 and right now I just can’t figure out if the audio system runs off the chassis battery or the coach? We’d love to listen to Bluetooth while sitting inside, but obviously don’t want to drain the battery. We’re camping now hooked to electric. TIA! Jamie “Living’ the dream!”

In most cases Thor connects the radio to the HOUSE battery bank. This requires your USE/STORE (Master power) switch to be in USE (on) in order to power the radio.

Our 21 class A runs off house. Easy way to find out is push the house battery disconnect or the chassis battery disconnect.

Radio head unit is nearly always powered from house batteries, and the station memory is powered from chassis battery... which draws a few milliamps.

If you like Bluetooth then in my opinion forget the Axxera radio their sound is terrible, go to Amazon get a small wireless speaker I like my Bose about $100 sounds great and you can take it outside or to the back of your unit. You would be sorry

Actually most modern radios store the station presets in non-volatile memory and will retain that information when all power is removed. Our 2023 Chevy Colorado requires that the battery be disconnected before towing behind the motorhome. We never loose any settings such as radio station information, miles per gallon, etc.

That's funny Bob! You said "modern" in a thread about Axerra radios. If memory power is removed from our Axerra radio it loses everything, including time.

My bad, I should have known the Axerra was the exception to a well designed unit. I am making progress in getting rid of our Axerra. I have the Iying setup on my work bench testing features. I learned the hard way that not making sure a head unit worked before installation could lead to serious frustration. In addition to testing the unit I am adding a center speaker. When I ordered the Colorado I included the Boise audio system. It has spoiled me, especially the center speaker in the dash. One thing I have noted is that the user manual that came with the Iying is useless. One must use trial and error to understand how to use the features of the Iying. It is very fast with the 8 core processor and 4G+64G memory. You got to love the 10 inch screen and the fact that it runs my Google account. I can tell it to navigate to a location using Google Maps via voice control. Just for fun I watched a youTube video on it. The built in GPS is impressive and sees 10 satellites while inside my garage with the GPS antenna placed in a window. Gives me hope it will work in the Class C. I have a left, right, and center speaker connected and can crank the volume way up without distortion and the bass is solid. I admit this unit is not for everyone, especially someone not comfortable with technology, but I like the challenge and have made my living in electronics for almost 60 years.

Bob,

Two suggestions:
1) The latest update from their email address. Here is the link and instructions.
https://we.tl/t-23zkUzVEZ1

How to update:
1. Please download and unzip the software, Format USB stick to FAT32,copy all the files(not folder) to USB stick. Please note: You only need to unzip for one time.
2. Plug the stick into USB port, system will detect it and update automatically.
3. When you see "success" in green color on the screen bottom, it means update successfully, then unplug the usb stick.

2) Download the alternate interface that was suggested to me from someone on this forum when I 1st got my unit. I FAR prefer it to the OEM one. For the life of me, I cannot find the name ('Launcher', possibly), but here is a pic of it.

I think that interface is
Car launcher.
I've used it for years.

YES, I think you're correct.

Far easier getting to your preferred apps than scrolling thru several screens going 70mph in a motorhome! 😱

Whoever originally suggested it to me a year ago, perfuse thanks!!!

Here’s my install.
MIC and Antenna tucked in without taking apart the dash except the panel right above the dash display. I haven’t had the chance to mess with the software setup or do the update. It was a good learning experience.
