Backup camera works sporadically

Start at one end and go to the other.
Camera ==> wiring harness ==> radio.
Other connections to check:
Reverse trigger
+ 12 VDC power to harness for camera power.

Sounds like a loose/dirty connection.

Just a story...

This spring, when I awoke our Hurricane, I noticed the rear camera gave a "Lost Signal" on the screen... dang, camera was just replaced last summer.
Removed camera from the back and... what???? Camera came out with its cable chewed off and the cavity was filled with dry grass! Pulled out many handfuls of grass and then a mummified squirrel.... good riddance. And the stink, even noticed it inside.
So I was able to solder, insulate, re-shield the wiring and it has worked good since. A half can of Febreze seems to have stopped the smell also.

Good Luck!

Speaking of trigger mechanism, what and where is it?
The what: either the transmission switch or a relay to tell the b/u monitor to turn on the camera
The where: on a Sequence I do not even want to think where to start.

Or a logic circuit controlled by the BCM.

On LT's coach the radio trigger comes from the 3 camera multiplexor. There are input triggers into the multiplexor from the turn signals and BU circuit.

Had a sporadic passenger side camera. The camera itself was bad and quit working entirely. Had it replaced under warranty. Dealer said the cause was water intrusion.

This shows how old school I am and my thinking... and my coach.
I enjoy the simple life.

2021 Thor Sequence 20L backup camera works sporadically!
Does anyone have any ideas where I should start?
Mice have been getting into my 20L Tellaro- so inspect for holes underneath and firewall- they can get thru 1/4" holes! Then they climb up inside and can eat the soy based wire casings.
I have heard them in the wall cabinet floor above my bed- using ultrasonic repeller in engine bay now for storage, and keep traps inside- sealed all holes.
Firewall questionable.

Pull camera and see if wires are damaged, or is wet inside. Wires go all the way forward probably on driver's side- will need wiring diagram from dealer or auto accessories store that installs remote locks, etc- they have complete wiring for many cars on hand. See how far you can see down the wires. Any evidence of mice- poop, nesting material, chewing, etc is not good.
One ate my TV cable after getting caught by one leg in one of my traps- so he/she just nibbled off the wire casing of the TV's 18/2 zip cable- so I inspected the rest and replaced the end with new plug. That one came thru the hole where those cables come thru- now removed- was just stapled in place.

Piece of felt trim found by pass. footwell with neatly chewed hole- so suspecting entry via firewall. Ultrasonic repeller now in engine bay aimed at firewall.

Tested the lights under the cabinets to see if they flicker and so far ok...

The camera is likely a chassis oem install, so not an add-on by Thor.

So far I have not detected damaged wires.
I found many entry points underneath where gas lines and electrics pass thru the floor- as well as plumbing under toilet- remove access panel inside LR door, and also look under wardrobe- BIG hole where toilet pipe goes to tank- foamed with Tomcat anti-rodent spray foam. Was wide open at forward side of pipe and lots of poops on the deck under there.

Also found entry points under drawers of sink cabinet where gas line came in- foamed!
Check where wires come into headrest compartment of pass. side bed.
Remove wardrobe back and floor panels and replace staples with screws to access again later as needed.

UV light helps trace their pathways. Borescope maybe as well. Chewed insulation behind wardrobe found as well.
Don't use decon or poison, as they will die inside and really stink it up!! Set traps w/ peanut butter and hope for the best.

Things that do not work: Irish spring soap, essential oil packets.

Things that do work: Sealing all/any holes underneath and firewall, rear door closure, keeping doors closed at night, ultrasonic repellers, ratzapper, traps w/ peanut butter. I put a walnut in my ratzapper and re-use after catching anyone...

Good luck, and hopefully can keep your sanity.

I once caught 100+ mice in an old travel trailer the USFS put my timber crew in in Idaho- so I have become an expert in mouse behavior.... no sleep 1st two nights in that old thing that was parked for years at the ranger station- they had gotten into the heating system below deck, and destroyed our food the 1st night!!
