Looks like I'm not alone with Balmar problems. Mine is stuck on the "This display" menu choice after getting the no service message. Was working great yesterday. Tried all the usual including the factory reset.

In this post below it refers to the SmartShunt....with the red and black wires. I don't think it was on a Class B. Does anyone know where that is on a Tellaro? I assume right under the longer bed up front but don't want to unscrew things without knowing.

Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

I would check underneath the panel above the breaker box on the passenger side where the bed is. There should only be four screws to remove and then you can lift up that panel. You will also need to remove that if you choose to winterize the coach because the valve to turn off the fresh water tank is over there. I had mine off but can't remember if the shunt is over there but worth checking. If you can't find it would probably just call Thor Customer Service. If you don't already have their schematics for all things on your Tellaro check the following link and register and you can download:

Customer Central

Also, if you have not turned off the master rotary battery switch located below the Balmar would try that first after making sure the coach is not connected to shore power.

Good luck

Thank you for jumping in for me Robert.

I figured that out by removing that cover. Saw the wire and did the fix. It is back online now. In the future (and we all know there will be a future) I can just pop that cover and redo that wire cap.

No problem and glad it worked out. I am also figuring this new van out and much different than the class A we had before that did not have lithium batteries. So far we have been happy with it and very few problems. Good to know it was easy to access and will make a note of it in case I have a similar problem.

Yes I have to say all in all we've been very lucky too.

Big problem on delivery but after that the only issue is my fresh tank sensor.

When you do delve into some area of construction you see just how careless and lazy they are though. It's depressing.

That little Balmar meter is kind of a big deal because it tells you were your batteries are. And to take it all the way to a dealer for that fix?

Balmar problem

What a timely post. I had the same problem two days ago and used this information to fix it.
I was lucky in that the device was above all the other wiring under the bed.

Excellent!

I don't know what I'd do without these boards. People are very cool and go to the effort to be helpful. Saves a lot of headaches and money.

They do not come with. You need the sg200-0300. Available on Amazon. Install is easy and plugs into the back of the display gauge.

I'm having the same issue.. so to fix this we have to cut a wire and reconnect it??? I'm so confused. I see the SmartShunt. Which wire do I cut? Please help, just headed out for a long trip and the Balmar Display just decided to stop working.

If the Balmar doesn't respond and just flashes on-off, then probably needs new battery inside the tablet. I replaced mine and have a pdf on how to do.
Not hard, just need battery and solder iron, or take to a phone repair place to have them do it. It's a LiPo battery and needs the same attention that any Lithium battery needs- I remove mine for winter storage and cycle the battery from 50-60% to 100% then leave on until back to 50-60% - do every 3 months. Pdf attached below- send me a 'conversation' if you have questions.
Mine went dead after a winter outside not plugged into shoreline since I moved my coach batteries up inside and maintain inside. (trickle charger on chassis battery) So I decided to use my solder skills to replace it.
I used an old cell phone charge cord to charge the tablet- not sure what designation it is- so Android tablet cord is what I would find at the store (Best Buy for me nearby) to use.
I also modified the faceplate (shell) so I can keep unit together for storage- carved out the side where the plug is (carefully!!) and now don;t have to worry about that ribbon cable, that I missed one time and had no function on face buttons for lights, etc...

As MC said- need to add the module as he stated- When your engine is on, app will show a 3rd 'window' to the alternator and what it is doing. Very essential thing to have- I put mine away from any electronics, next to the water tank. Plugs into empty spot on back of Balmar gauge (green device 3rd pic- can see two cable sets on backside)
And yes, I made a 'door' for that compartment so I could get at the tank drain, and access all those components!

Thank you, this looks like a different issue though. My Balmar Display just says "THIS DISPLAY NO SERVICE AVAILABLE FOR THIS SELECTED DEVICE". And it's stuck on a settings menu. I have tried to reset several times and it does not change anything.

Somewhere on this forum there is description of how to disconnect and reconnect the power to the gauge. My Tellaro had a fuse in-line at the hot side of the master disconnect. I would simply pull the fuse and reinsert it to “cycle” gauge off then on and it would reset. I subsequently added a switch to avoid having to pull the master out to access the fuse.

Ah yes- I misunderstood (and got dyslexic-flashing Balmar, not BMPro) so follow what MC said- except that the fuse is a 5A to the balmar.
The 20A is for solar, and the 1A is for the BMPro.
Follow lead from Master switch to Balmar gauge, find the 5A fuse and pull it... :) Wait and reinsert- should work. Is that what you did?
I used to access mine by removing the bed deck- now has a 'door' to make it easier. Also can access tank drain much better now too...
