battery cables: is black positive?

MAke you wonder if the factory doesn't have red wire? In 12v systems black and white MOST of the time is neg.

From what I've seen, white and bare are ground and neutral on 110 volt. Green is usually seen with 220 volt.

110V, white is neutral, black is hot, and BARE is ground... I have never seen green in any 110V 12-2/gd, it's always bare.

Me and electricity are like water and oil...so before I unhook any kind of electric connections I leave a small diagram stacked close to the place and since then- like a miracle never had a problem....

OK. I didn't know we were going to disect this, so, safety ground is bare if you are using Romex. In the marine industry, which is my background, safety ground is always covered and it's always green because we do not use solid conductor(Romex)

I didn't know where you were coming from with your original post. Just wanted clarify.
