I have a 2016 Thor Challenger 37 ND. The prior owner modified the bird system wiring and added a relay when the isolator module burnt up. He also Clips some wires from the system making kind of a mess. I got the bird schematic but I was hoping to also have somebody photo document the area around the solenoid because the schematic doesn't cover everything I would like to be sure before I attempt to put this back together.

On my configuration there is a yellow and yellow black pair of wires that come into the system probably from the front of the coach those were cut off and the schematic doesn't show where they go.

Any photographs would be very helpful

I don't have a Challenger but I do have a BIRD. I'll see if I can get some pics today.

16ACE27. Thank you, hopefully they are using a similar wiring method. On mine, the mess of components are next to the battery in the battery compartment. If you can send photos I'll see if they are close enough to my Challenger wiring for me to make heads or tails about it.

I have attached some photos. Note I don't have an OEM Trombetta solenoid but control wires are control wires. I also have a potted BIRD so you have to go by wire color from the BIRD and match to function. I found the following info on IRV2:

My intellitec unit has four (4) terminals as follows: Ignition (Yellow wire), Relay (Violet), Coach Battery (Brown) & Ground (White).

My wires are spliced into the Thor harness as follows:

Solid Yellow ==> Red
Yellow/Black Stripe ==> White
Yellow/White Stripe ==> Orange
White ==> Black

Unfortunately, that does not match the colors I found on IRV2.

On the control solenoid I have a BLUE and YELLOW/Black Stripe wires goint to the control terminals. EDIT: I went back and checked - the BLUE wire is an extension of a WHITE wire in the harness. I had to extend it when I moved the control solenoid.

This is a link to a non-potted gas BIRD manual:

I did find this picture on this Forum:

Hopefully you'll now have enough info to figure it out.

Thank you for going to all the trouble on this. I will give it to my mechanic. Unfortunately it is so different from the configuration in the Challenger I'm not sure if it can help as a visual map! But you sure did cover it thoroughly and I appreciate it. Maybe someone with a Challenger can follow up with a couple photos as well and I can use all this info.

I was going to send you a "Thanks" comment for the detailed work on your post, but the forum said I need to spread around before I can send thanks to you again. Odd that the software determines when I should be grateful!

Anyway, thanks for taking the time and effort for a detailed response. I'm still thinking about replacing house batteries with lithium and everything I can learn about the BIRD and relay is helpful.
