Trying to locate a replacement for the below black tank for my 2014. Where is the best place to find one these guys. I have put in a few hours of looking today but no luck. interesting the tank calls out to be a 27 gal. the math shows it to be about 23. Wondered why when I was washing out my tank I could only get in about 18 gallons before water started coming out the crack at the top edge.

Thanks for pitching in to help Ducksface, those were really close. I am limited on the width by the bolt holding the rear leaf spring on the hanger by 1/2 and inch and 3/4 inch on the exterior wall. They push me just a bit too tight the length also has me stuck between the frame struts at the front and the gas line coming in from the fuel fill at the rear. They really did some engineering when they sized this tank. Unfortunately the floor decking was cut short so there is nothing to attach the brackets to it the tank gets much longer. And access is an issue if I try to go with straps around the belly of the tank vs using the integral clip lips molded in the tank.

My tank is similar.
If I ever get it out I'd never get it back in.

Consider the repairs.
I do plastic repair all the time.
It's very easy
Harbor freight sells a kit.
My old harbor freight kit used something like a hot air de-solder gun. It was not my friend.

I bought this on Amazon
Put in many staples then add plastic over the staples to seal it up.

I almost never recommend anything I haven't purchased.
Pics as proof.

Ah I was wondering how it could be patched. This, I think at this point what I may have to pursue. No matter what I will have to drop the tank, but this will be the game. What did you use to seal the skin? Something like a liquid rubber or something after you bonded the crack back together?

Jack pot! I watch the Video on the link you sent. It says the kit comes with some plastic fillet material.

Thanks for the help.

Do a YouTube search for "Love your RV & Boat". A Canadian chap (Ray) with an older Cougar 5er. I've learned a tremendous amount from him. I believe he has a video where he repaired his black tank... or gray tank. Really the repair is exactly the same. But his work is top notch and very detailed.

If interested, tonight's YouTube episode of Love Your RV is repairing a cracked black tank.

Norman,

I owe you big time. You are right Ray with Love your RV & Boat is a good source. Double thank you for forwarding the link. I went to his You Tube Source last night after you had suggested it, but could not locate this. I like the way he reinforced the patch with the fiberglass. G Flex. I am well familiar with the West System products from my old Sailboat. Liked his commentary while doing his work and he does great camera work. His problem was at the corner as is mine or at least near the corner. It seems to not wrap around the corner but I believe carry the patch around for some reinforcement..

Thanks again Jim

Here are 3 steps along the patch path.

1. Build up.
2. Add glass Matt.
3. Additional glass.

Have not filled all the way yet but felt good about the seal.
