I went down to the storage yard where I keep my 2021 Axis 24.1 and got it ready for camping. This is what I did:
Dewinterized it- Filled the fresh water tank and ran each fixture until I got no antifreeze out, ie clear.
Pumped up the tires- Seems like every year one or more of the tires leaks a bit and I have to pump them back up to spec- 75# front and 65# back.
Put fresh linens on the bed.
Ran the generator under A/C load for half an hour- It was 70+ today here in Ct.
I always leave the battery switch off while it is in storage. This time when I turned it back on after being off for 6 weeks (and both chassis and house batteries were reading 13+V) the BMPro display didn't immediately come on.
The lower 1,2,3,5 buttons worked and the S1 and A1 buttons did also but no display. After about 15 minutes it came back on and stayed on for another hour or two while I finished the foregoing and then turned the battery switch off.
I assume this is because the internal Li battery ran down during the 6 weeks power was off and it took 15 minutes to build up enough charge to power up the display. Does this make sense?
Is the battery on its last legs. This is the fourth winter storage season for my Axis and maybe sitting for 6 weeks at a time without power for 6 months has tapped it out.
I do have a replacement battery and am electrically competent enough to change it out myself (Thanks Mark?? for your excellent instructions and photos). Should I go ahead and change it out now or wait until it fails entirely?
