I have a 2018 Thor Compass TK23. I was wondering if anyone has tried using the cable tv input located on the outside of the RV to hook up an external DTV antenna to use for regular tv stations instead of using the rv antenna? I want to experiment with using a regular tv antenna but can only bring it into the cable coax connector on the outside of the trailer. I wanted to research this before spending anything on this project

Should work but there will be some loss in the splitters that are bound to be there. Hopefully Thor used RG6. If the antenna you are using needs power for an amplifier you will need to supply that from another source because it will not be available over the cable connection. Green LED must be off. On the television use the scan for over-the-air channels and not the cable option.

I do. My coach has 3 different sets of Input Jacks. Two inside the coach and one outside the coach in the Electrical bay. The external jack in Electrical bay is what you refer to.

My External Input Jack has 3 coax input connectors.

1. Cable
2. Main Satellite Dish
3. Aux Satellite Dish

Although rare because I have built in King Omni Antenna, I do have a portable King 360 Antenna with Tripod to use if I wish to get better reception than roof antenna. I plug it into Cable input. It works the same or better than the roof antenna in most cases. It just depends on placement, trees signals etc.

Note: I do have to turn the Boost off if I wish to use cable, but I have NEVER used Park cable or anything similar.

We have 24/7 Internet stream You Tube TV, and Samsung TV Plus; so we always have 500 plus channels to watch. We never need the antennas, but they do work as a backup.
