I have one cargo door that my key won't open. Key goes in but won't turn to lock the door. $250 for a new assembly from THOR. 0409414 latch assembly. GL391. 600/601/725 series. Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this before I buy a new assembly? Key works on all other doors, I have tried several different keys.

The door is locked and you can't open or see the action end of the lock?
And
Which door? A black valve door or shower door or battery door could use a different key for security.
And
The chances of that being anything but an Amazon available universal/generic lock...are slim.

So I assume you have the door open and can remove and disassemble the lock? Or remove and take it to a locksmith with your key so he can re-key it (or more likely un-jam it)?

I assume, since the question wasn't answered when i asked, the door is closed... or the lock would have been taken to a locksmith.

I can't come up with any other scenario.

I do have the door open and can probably remove the entire assembly. Locksmith is an option I guess. The lock worked for a while but recently jammed.

The door opens and closes. I just can’t lock it. The latch works but it won’t lock.

Could just be corrosion then. I'd disassemble it and clean/lube.

A suggestion, take it apart and try a graphite lock lubricant. Lock lubricant is under $5 on Amazoom.

I had a tough lock on one door and decided to swap it with a little used door lock. After reinstalling, both locks worked perfectly. You might check to see if the tab is on correctly. The end is bent slightly and it matters whether it is pointed in or out.

I had similar issue - use dWD-40 inside locks and it eventually loosened up - then took lock apart a bit and cleaned and oiled up again and no more issues.

Take it off, take it and key to local locksmith. Have him fix. Way cheaper than 250! Most of locksmith charge is drive time.

Probably corroded pins in lock.

I would like to order a master key (off amazon) for my cargo doors. What information do I need to look for in order to buy the corret keys?

I have two cargo doors that won't lock with a key. They worked originally but the key no longer turns when put into the keyhole, so I can't lock them. I have tried everything I know other than replace the locks. It seems the locks can only be purchased from the THOR and are over $250 each.

Good morning,

When you say you tried everything does that include removed the lock cylinder, lubing, and retightening? If you have not done that it is good to do. But don't overtighten the cylinder nut because the doors will smash in and the lock mechanism will not work.

Definitely don't buy from Thor but, if yours are like mine, all the cargo doors are keyed the same so you'll want to get the key and lock with the right codes.

Here is a link you might try if you need to order replacements:

I have a catalogue for keys and locks for RV's I will try to find and share with you. This is from a company in the Elkhart, Indiana area which is where Thor is.

What RV are you discussing? There are the simple CH751 locks and there are the slam latch locks. Which are we discussing?

Hopefully I can answer all the questions here. I have not removed the cylinders yet. Quite honestly, I am not sure how to do that. I looked a few videos but nothing seemed to capture the locks I have. It is a 2022 Thor Challenger. Attached is the info I got from THOR. It is a slam latch.
