Have Thor Vegas 2016. Should say wife has Thor. She travels in it showing dogs. Usually, I'm not allowed to touch but once in a while she does ask for help. Today was unique. She dropped her keys down the commode. Was doing something, put keys in mouth to free up both hands. Had seal (flapper) on commode open. Coughed, lost grip on keys and they went down the commode. Luckily the back water tank was empty. Rigged up a magnet on string and went fishing. Caught them and able to extract.

I had not looked at the commode before. Question is this. Shouldn't the flapper (part that goes down when you flush)) seal completely when not being flushed. There is a 1/4" opening around the entire seal. Looks like smell would come out of the commode from the black water tank. Is there any adjustment and how to make it seal better.

Yes, it should close completely and seal to hold water. It's a simple system, sometimes the seal needs lubrication to seal but you need to figure out what is manually preventing the ball valve from closing all the way.

Is the issue your toilet flush seal cover stays open and will not close? or are you saying she had the pedestal down for it to be open intentionally and then accidentally dropped the keys.

Good idea on how to fish out, I would need a pretty big magnet to fish mine out.

Ok so let me get this straight. The DW spousal unit won't let the DH spousal unit use the RV. (How am I doing so far?) But when the DW drops the keys down the crapper it's ok for DH to "fish" them out? :nonono:

RTHIS is why we need a 'Like', 'HaHa', 'Love', etc. button! 👍🏻

100 percent right

Not sure what toilet is in the RV but maybe the attached Thetford manual will help. There are some parts diagrams and basic troubleshooting in it.

This thread may be the best microcosm of marriage ever.
