Convection/microwave oven external venting

The op hasn't said that she
actually turned on the exhaust fan for the microwave.
' no fan' venting is how my stupidly expensive microwave vents UNLESS I TURN ON THE MULTISPEED VENT FAN.

OP;
does your microwave have a button that says
'Fan'¿

And
The dealer is exactly correct in their return email.
That's how a passive vent works, that is a baffle, and chances are the air is cooled enough by the time it hits the outside for you to not notice any heat.

To check for actual venting;
Use a very thin 3" long strip of toilet paper held with two fingers in the vent outlet flow.

I think you'll be surprised.

And
Tha baffle may/probably/definitely is going to make a bunch of clacking noise when you hit a crosswind just right.

Nope👆🏻

Update on this convection oven venting issue: went to the dealer today. Explained the problem again. The service manager said exactly what someone posted here: tech installed a vent. Nothing more. What an F-ing dunce!! I told them I wanted hot air out of my RV! I wanted to vent the convection oven and cook top fan outside. He never tested whether the air was vented outside. Today they finished the job correctly...free. SMH.

I have installed several upper end microwave ovens and never had to do anything but remove the baffle (or change the baffle) that directs the air back inside to facilitate the exterior venting. What am i missing here?

To direct air out the back of the unit, the motor must be removed and turned 90 degrees so the drums push air out the back and not thru the front of the oven.

Here is a snippet from the original work order. Clearly I stated I wanted a vent installed so hot air would vent outside. They installed a vent and "tested operation ". Don't think so!

You definetly can do it yourself with help. Google how to outside vent your model and you can see how to do it rather then use the paper directions. Google, or Bing is often my best friend for projects and I'm carpentry and technology teacher.

The job is already done. Read the beginning of this thread. The tech couldn't follow simple instructions from the get go. Yes, I did Google how to rotate oven motor and showd the tech when I took it back in.

This dealer is a two location family-owned business. Not franchise. Nit nationwide. What say you now?

I say their mechanic needs fired. Transient is transient. So either they float from job to job and he was a new hire, or the mercy the boss is having on his stupidity cost you time.
You described it adequately and he/she/they/them failed.

AND they claim that all work that leaves their dealership is QC'd by another tech. BS.

I must say you were right from the beginning. :thumb:

That work order shows that THAT dealer isn't even as good as the ones I described above. The job was certainly laid out as you desired on the work order.

You were right to be pissed.
