Couple questions ion my Thor ACE. Hopefully right forum? Bunk ladders and Propane (I think Hank called it God's gas).

2 things if it’s the tank 1- in the side of the tank valve check to see that the slotted screw( bleeder screw) is tight and 2- is right under knob on top ( should be a three sided shape) there is a nut if you see notches its reverse thread you can try to snug it a little, the more you snug it the harder the valve will be to open and close . Safer thing would be replace tank if that’s where the smell is coming from.
Both are tight as tight and there's no smell at all unless I'm opening the valve up all the way. Everything seems tight that I can tell.

I'm no expert but I believe the yellow plastic cap is more of a dust seal than a shut off. Unless you mean the actual valve handle (blue in the picture) - that should shut off the flow of propane and not 'leak' when open or closed.

I agree with your logic. It IS threaded and it did in fact generate Co somehow when I unscrewed it. You now, what if the gauge is wrong? It looks like crap in comparison to this beautiful new one. hmm.

Did you ever put soapy solution on connections. The yellow cap is dust cover for fill port and you should soap that looking for any bubbles. As for is the gauge right, turn on propane and run heater for 5 mins then pour very hot water on the side of propane tank hot tank is empty and cool spot is propane level

I have not yet but it's been so warm I'm looking for a "cool" night. Like 80's day, upper 60's night.

Why? The propane would be more volatile when it's warmer.
That's right. I dunno so it's worth using it? Either way, there IS a leak. I did a bubble test to no avail. But I did mark the tank three days ago and it's at least 1/6th down since then (haven't used the propane at all). This is with the valve open a little.

I put soapy solution on all of the connections up front- that is, behind the door. The hose in, valve, pressure release, and input. No bubbling :( That is an amazing hot water trick. I feel like that's some sort of MacGyver go-to. Thank You.

You need to soapy solution at every joint from tank to stove or get a propane detector ( I like this onehttps://a.co/d/126X8vE because it had 2 setting setting general air and pin point). On the 5th wheel underside there was hard pipe and mid way there was a tee that a flare nut came loose after years of traveling and found that the tank switch was bad.

Dude! Awesome. Purchased to arrive tomorrow! I love my gadgets and cheap! **** like this 20 years ago would have been some industrial thinger from Fluke with an attachment and cost $3K. I love it.

P.S. About 30 seconds after I bought I was brought a piece of paper that was buried in the original paperwork that said there are a propane seal leak. Not anything mentioned to me during purchase! hmph.

Going a few post I thought you mentioned that when you removed the yellow cap you heard it release pressure , that is where they fill the tank and should not release any propane. There is no level of propane that is acceptable, only if tank is full and heat / sun is high there is a pressure release but only when full

Exactly right and still a concern! Maybe they overfilled it and it was letting go of too much?
