Hey Guys, I'm hoping that someone with electrical skills can help me solve this problem? I replaced the upper single blue CAP light on my sunset trail 26si, It had two wires RED and BLACK. Pretty simple, right? It works great. the on / off switch is in the belly storage compartment. All good. NOw I want to change the on / off switch and replace it with a "remote control switch" that lets me turn on the CAP light inside my trailer .... I bought one from Amazon, it has the same RED and BLACK wires (Input and Output) like the CAP light. But when I took out the switch, it only has two Black and white colored wires? Hummmmm, Im stumped ..... can anyone explain to me how to hook this up? Or did I buy the wrong parts and I should be looking for ??? If you could help, Id appreciate it. I'm def not an electrician ..... Thanks in advance guys. Any help to guide me in the right direction would be appreciated! Artistspot@gmail.com George

You should have got instructions with your remote switch. It will require bot a + and a - lead of 12 VDC to the switch for operating power. One of the other leads will go to the light load depending on wheter it is + or + side switched.

SO do you mean that if there are only 2 wires going to the switch, both of them are colored black and white, one is hot and one goes to the CAP light. So I would wire my remote switch with the RED wires (input & output) and my black wires (Grounds) to a ground somewhere in the trailer?

Reminder, my existing switch in the trailer only has 2 wires. They are both each have a black strip and a white stripe on each wire .....

Yes, your existing switch just interrupts the current flow to your lights - it's just a break in a circuit between the battery and the lights. But without access to your particular remote switch and your lights I can not tell you exactly how to wire it. That's why I referred you to your instructions for the remote switch. You will also likely need additional wire and a multimeter.

OK, yes I understand that better and that's what I thought. The existing switch is just on/off which just lets the power / positive current flow through to the light. The light, which has both RED and BLACK is already grounded to an alternate ground. So if I use the same method RED in / RED out and take my black ground wires and find a good ground, it should theoretically work??? Thanks for your responses and I'll Definitely let you know if that works ... I understand its not rocket science. Much appreciated. Have a great day bro!
