Have a problem that Thor authorized service can't seem to fix, and Thor does not respond to.

The dash AC worked intermittently then stopped. Everything is functioning except the AC part does not kick on and blow cold. Ford confirms the AC works fine, when it works it works great.

Replaced the Non Ford dash controls that Thor installed. Doesn't help. Looks like a wiring issue on the Ford AC side. Ford says Thor, Thor says we have no idea. Spent thousands diagnosing.

Bought this in Feb 2024. It was a 2023. It was right out of warranty. The dealer did not check the AC as it was 18 degrees when I bought it. I have a 2023 motorhome that has sat for 8 months because the dash AC won't work. I suspect this is why it was traded in after less than a year.

Has anyone else see this?

Who did you spend thousands of $ with and not get a simple A/C electrical problem fixed?

"Ford confirms the AC works fine, when it works it works great." so not an A/C system problem, just a problem with making the compressor go round and round. Any competent vehicle repair shop should be able to find out why that is an issue and fix it. The problem is: it sounds like an intermittent issue so the wham, bam out the door shops won't take the time to hunt it down. It make take some time and some more parts canon firing of smaller, cheaper parts (like a relay, high/low pressure sensors, etc) but if the shop can get it while it's failed it should be a simple electrical continuity troubleshooting task.

Ridiculous.
You have roof ac and a generator as an alternative.

What did an independent ac shop say?
Why?

And yes,
We see these types of posts all the time.

That is a great question and I will explain. I purchased the Vegas in Feb. from Motor Home Specialists in Alvarado, TX. It was a 2023 just out of 1 year warranty. I flew in to pick it up and drive it back to NC, they provided me a list of 50 items that they "guaranteed to work." Turns out by the time I got back to NC I found that a lot of things were not working that they should of flagged. (That is another story.)

Because they were Blue Compass, I took it to the local Blue Compass, MHS had agreed to fix the door that would not stay closed. They charged me to fix a whole host of other issues, MHS said "as is, no warranty" despite the 50 item guarantee. (OK that is on me I guess.)

Anyway, I spend hundreds of dollars with Blue Compass looking at the AC to have them tell me they had no clue, so I took it to Ford. Ford confirmed it word fine with the manually tested it and it worked after they poked it with a stick. We tried to go on a trip, it worked for an hour then has never worked again.

Took it to a Thor authorized dealer who also spent a lot of money trying to figure it out, we even spent $650 on a new dash controller that was not the problem either. Best as we can figure is that Thor created their own cable to go from the dash to Ford, but somehow it is not working correctly. It is also incredibly difficult to actually get the dash open to get to everything.

I can't be the only person that has this problem, Thor blames Ford, Ford blames Thor, all I need is the Dash AC to work. Heater, Blower, fans, everything else works fine.

(Next stop is trying to find an auto AC specialist.)

Probably not what you need. More likely, you need an electrical specialist who understands how RV HVAC systems work in conjunction with the Ford chassis system along with a set of schematics (good luck on getting the Thor stuff!).

The A/C clutch is PCM controlled. It's not difficult to look at the PCM's inputs and outputs with an appropriate scan tool to see if the PCM is getting and giving the correct signals to allow operation.

I was able to get schematics from Thor, (slightly outdated but somewhat helpful.) I do have an electronics wiz kid looking as well. Was hoping someone had see the exact problem!

Do you have a capable scan tool or Forscan with a recommended adapter?

How old are the schematics you got from Thor?

Who was the manufacturer of the add-on HVAC system in your coach?

I had a Vegas 24.1 for 7 years.

Developed an intermittant issue with dash A/C stopping while on bumpy roads. Turned out to be stake on terminal on high pressure switch loosening. Is on left side looking at open hood. There is A/C line just above left of radiator. I found it by hearing compressor run and wiggling wires that looked like add ons. Every oil chang would snug slip on portion and no more issues. I assume 2023 will still use same add on to OEM. I was an industrial refridgeration retired and it had me scratching head for awhile.

Good luck, the Ford system is solid, but little things can drive you nuts.

Because the PCM controls compressor engagement, if you wiggle wire at top of pressure switch there is a considerable delay for re engagement. That drove me nuts initially.

The pressure switch looks like old oil pressure switch and terminal was pointing straight up.

2022 24.1
AC went out after driving washboard road. Blue light went out. While I was checking manual, wife reached up under dash and pushed the connector...bingo. We have repeated 3-4 times in past 2 years. It is white.

Well, I'd say she's a keeper! :thumb:

Ford was kinda of hands off when I asked to check my AC in my 2011 Hurricane. Our problem was caused by low refrigerant which caused the compressor go into safe mode or something like that.
