Dead RV Battery

Aftrer going to the storage area to pick up my 2013Crossroads Sunset Trail 30RE, I found the batteries dead and I had to use the hand crank to attach the hitch to my truck.

We've only used the RV three times. I'm also very careful to be sure that nothing was left "on" when we parked it.

Any idea why the brand new batteries died so soon?

How long was it sitting there from last time you used it? If you don't have a means of disconnecting the battery/batteries, there are phantom loads in there sucking juices all the time. It doesn't take long to drain the battery.
Personally I don't think much of the battery/batteries that come with the new rigs.

How long had the trailer sat in storage? Buy a marine battery disconnect switch so there will be zero drain on the battery. There are several items that draw power regardless, the stereo clock, propane and smoke detectors, the thermostat and maybe the control boards for the frig., water heater, Intellijack and furnace. Also, if the Climate Control switch for the frig. is 'on', it will draw a lot of power, around 1 to 1.5 amps. On most refrigerators, this switch is located in the top of the door frame with the door open.

I installed a battery disconnect just for this reason. My battery would be dead in about 10 days unless I pulled a cable. The switch is so much easier. About 30.00 at a marine sales store.

My carbon dixoide dectector will kill my battery in a week.

All the best advice. Just like your home there is a lot "on" we do not stop to think of. Disconnect switch helps.

Harbor Freight used to have disconnects very reasonable also...

Had the same problem and installed a battery disconnect switch and a master switch for the tongue and stabilizer jacks. Also, I was able to get power by hooking up my 7 pin connector and leaving the truck running.
