I am researching the good, bad, and ugly of hiring a delivery driver. Trip would be LA to NC, essentially 12 hrs plus fuel, bathroom, and restaurant breaks. RV: 28’ class C (4W5K.)

I have never chartered a driver, but I do know what taking two days off of work will cost. Just trying to be an informed participant and avoid any unknowns.

Any recommendations?
Any cautions?
Anything else?

I'd price what flatbed or car carrier transport would cost as well.
There's risk either way- probably less with a carrier that has more than one car/van to deliver. Don't forget getting that driver back home...unless he has a pre-arranged delivery the other way...

There are "brokers" that connect drivers with vehicles to transport. Your best match would be a SE local with a TOAD that is RV smart and looking for a few extra bucks and the adventure. But failing that I would ensure the driver is insured for the trip and backed by the broker in case your RV ends up in Mexico.

There was that TV show that used UShip.

TOAD- I like it.

If you’re an FMCA member there are members that are willing to assist in this area. There is usually a listing of individuals in the annual directory.

I am surprised no one commented on your estimated travel time. You posted 12 hours. You better do some better estimating to get a better picture of your costs. You are looking at a 2,500 mile trip. At an average speed of 50 miles per hour, that comes out to a 50 hour trip. And that is without any time for sleeping. If you hired someone drive it to NC, thtrip would take about 5 days.

Because they understood LA to be a state abbreviation like NC, not the West Coast LA. But maybe Lower Alabama?

I think he is going from Louisiana (LA) to North Caroline ( NC) and at that google says 14 1/2 hrs guaranteed that’s not 55 MPH
