Our 2023 Thor Axis 24.1 has a Dometic DMC 4081 12V Fridge / Freezer. The freezer really does not keep food frozen like our home freezer does. Still under warranty so the dealer is going to keep the coach for a couple of days to do tests. I the meantime I wanted to ask people here about the freezer temperature slider adjustment. I cannot find anything about it in the manual and I am sure I am right that adjusting left towards "minimum" makes it colder. My wife, on the other hand thinks adjusting the control towards the right side "maximum" makes it colder. Yes we are testing it and I have thermometers in both fridge and freezer.

How long have you been married? As Dr Phil is known to ask, "do you want to be right or happy?"

Anyway, my guess would have been to the left for minimum cooling (meaning warmer) and to the right for maximum cooling (colder).

Happy wife Happy Life! I gotta eat crow if she is right :)
Well, turns out my wife was correct. Oddly moving the freezer temperature slider to the right to the highest number of 5, instead of to the left towards the number 1, makes the temperature colder.

Now where is that CROW..

Wife was right as to which way to slide the control but the freezer is still not cold enough. It was zero degrees last night which gave me some hope but it was a bit over 10 degrees this morning and the pint of ice cream was a bit soft. Not cold enough for a compressor based fridge. I would expect that with an absorption refrigerator but not a compressor one. Maybe I am expecting too much but frozen food needs to stay frozen for safety. Also the refrigerator section is usually no colder than 40 degrees which seems iffy.

My dealer ran 24 hours or more of testing and talked with Dometic support. Turns out Dometic said the refrigerator needs to be replaced because the temperatures in the Fridge and Freezer are out of specs. Dealer is working on a warranty replacement. This does not surprise me. We bought the RV new in November 2023 and the Fridge / Freezer always seemed inconsistent. Strawberries would freeze in fridge section and ice cream / frozen yogurt was not solidly frozen. I had complained off and on to the dealer but never had them check it until now,

My main concern now is if it will fit through the entry door.

Beyond that, this is just one more issue with this RV which again lowers my confidence with it. I have had a whole slew of issues since purchase. None kept me from driving it / going on trips except for the electrical arcing, under the right side of the couch in August 2024, but nonetheless there has been way too many issues. So many that Thor gave me a 1 year extended warranty.

Are there any drivable RV's that are problem free? We had looked at used and new class C RV's before we found this small class A and we greatly liked the floorplan and the overall size of 25' which fits nicely in our driveway. We certainly cannot afford a several hundred thousand or million dollar RV.

In any case I am venting :)
