Draining fresh water tank

I’ve got a drawer front under the fridge. I do see the red and blue water lines but not any valve. The water lines go under the floor toward the kitchen. I’ll see if there are any low points over there.

Well only thing I can say is call the support line with your vin number. Ours under the refrigerator cabinet drawer are hard to see since they are recessed in the floor. But under the coach you can see the red and blue lines coming out to drain them. Thor may have forgot to install them. Anything is possible with them. Good luck.

Thank you Willis. I am climbing under the RV today and will do a more thorough search for any waterlines coming through the floor.

Also, I intend to use my air hose (low pressure only) to blow back from the outside valve and back to the water tank. An obstruction has to be in there that is preventing water from flowing out.

Thanks everyone for all of the ideas.

Well guys. I climbed under the Quantum. I went front to back and side to side. There are no low point drains under the RV. I’ll call Thor support tomorrow. When I do go to winterize it, it will be the old fashioned way. Open all faucets and drain the water from all. Then run antifreeze through all of the lines.

On some RVs the low point drain is the outdoor shower.

What about the tank drain? Any progress?

Hi Ted. I drained the tank and disconnected what I believe to be the tank low point. It’s very tight in there but I used a short pick to push into the tank through the fitting. It would not push through. Believe it or not but I think that there no hole in the tank for the water to drain. It was solid when I tried to push the pick in.

Second, on top of the tank are two hoses. One is larger and I think it is the fresh water fill tube. The other tube is clear. Remember that the outside valve is connected to a clear tube. I put air in the outside valve and no air came out of that clear tube on top of the tank. What could that clear tube be for? There was water in it and when I disconnected it from the tank air came out of it.

Here are the pictures

Those are your FILL and FILL VENT tubes. If you look at your tank fill opening you'll see a smaller opening with a screen on/in it. That smaller opening is for the displaced air in the tank to vent when water goes in.

All are possibilities I guess.

As to the tank drain, is it remotely possible that Thor didn’t open the drain hole at the bottom of the tank? I’ll call Thor support tomorrow to try to get some answers.

Thanks as always Ted.

Disclaimer: I have SOB, not a TMC let along your model plus I have not bothered to read all of the post as I thought it might have resolved by now when I first saw

My coach does not have a fresh water drain. When brand new I had big argument with Service Manager over the phone because he was giving me instructions on how to drain, but I was NOT seeing what he was saying. Being a newbie, I assumed it was me so it let it go.

I would eventually talk to WBGO who started down the same road, but a lot nice about it. Then the guy said you have v2 model and they gave you the wrong Owners Manual for your model.

It turns out on my coach to drain the fresh water tank, I have to open the low points drain and then turn on the water pump and there she blows. Dumps that entire tank in less than 5 minutes.

When I got the new manual it perfectly laid out that sequence. Don't know if this is your issue, but if not; you are not the only one that has had this frustration. After 5 years, I believe I would prefer to pump out better over simple drain if I had it. It is just faster thats all.

Thanks. That is helpful. One of the issues is that there is no obvious low point drains even though the schematics say that there are two. I’ve searched under the RV thoroughly and I can’t see any drains. 16ACE27 believes that the outdoor shower may serve that function.

As to the other issue, the bottom of my fresh water tank has a fitting which we believe may feed the valve/spigot on the outside wall on the drivers side. No water comes out when I turn the valve. I checked the tank fitting and it doesn’t seem to have been drilled out.

Hopefully Thor Support can provide answers tomorrow

Low Point drains

Both of my rigs have had low point drains for draining off your fresh water. Our class C was located beneath the rig and controlled by a water station. In our Class A, the lowpoint drains are located in the same bay as my coach batteries.

To empty your fresh water, find your lowpoint drain handles. Also, don't forget to empty the water heater. If you're using antifreeze, be sure to bypass your water heater. Same is true when sanitizing your lines with bleach.

I hope this helps.
