Ok, On a trip and noticed the smell in the toilet the first few days and flushed the black tank real good and it appears to have helped with stink but it is back again and started noticing stinky wetness at the base and floor. So it looks like I may have a seal problem between bowl and base. I have not taken it apart yet to verify. I will order a new gasket to have on hand before tackling this job. Bolts that hold down the toilet appear to be tight. Am I on the right track? Anything else I should check?

Anyone upgrade from this plastic bowl dometic 300 toilet that you would recomeend?

Thanks

Ell, if it wasn't for the "stinky wetness at the base and floor" I would say check your ball valve seal and Air Admittance Valve (AAV) under the sink.

Upgrading to another toilet is probably simpler than replacing the bowl/base seal.

When I get back to the camper, I’ll check. I’m thinking now that it might be a dometic 300. If thats true will probably lean to upgrade to 310 or 320 ceramic if it fits.

Initial research says to to put in a dometic 310 instead of repairing the 300. It looks like the 310 has bidet options from what I can see. Like ACE said, easier to replace.

Pretty sure that's the model we had in our 2018 Forest River. Seal failed between the base and bowl and allowed dirty water to pool in the base. I fully dismantled it and re-sealed everything, but the following season the flush handle started leaking. I yanked the whole thing and replaced with a porcelain model (just make sure you check your rough-in dimensions). I wished I had done that from the start instead of attempting to fix it.

If that is the same model we had, Dometic knows it's a problem and supposedly fixed it with the following model, but we missed the warranty period by a year or so.

Had a dometic 310 Delivered to one of our stops this past trip and it took all of 30 minutes to uninstall/install. Easy Job. What a big difference from that 300 plastic bowl.
