Had Washer & Dryer installed yesterday. DW is doing laundry today and I informed her the grey water tank was full and I needed to empty it. She asked me to wait until she was done, I informed her the water from the washer had to go somewhere. She asked "what's the worst that could happen?" As a newbie, I figured the worst case was the Black Tank backing up into the washer. DW decided I had better dump it.</SPAN>

I over flowed mine - cussed redwood and blamed it on pipes and leaks and everything else until I realized I had opened the wrong tank to drain and the wash machine was hitting a full tank.

You do NOT want to overflow even the grey tank :)

And I KNOW you were just using the black tank for effect,
but grey and black are not connected in any way.

fyi, You can double your capacity with an extra gate valve on the end of your sewer pipe like so --> http://www.amazon.com/Valterra-T58-...&qid=1386983555&sr=8-1&keywords=rv+gate+valve

close that valve, open both grey valves and the two grey tanks will equalize... (as long as they don't freeze !)

There were Montana models that actually discharged the front wash machines into the black tank, so the fear is real!

Our 2010 Montana 2955RL didn't put the Washer into any tank, it emptied directly into the discharge pipe, so you HAD to be connected to park sewer to use the washer or you would have a serious overflow.

That's how my 3400 was, and I actually liked that. If we didn't have hookups, I kept my sewer line "add-on" valve closed and let it come back into the gray tank.

Of course the Montana didn't have near the tank sizes back then that these Redwoods do.
