Emergency Start not functioning after Lithium Upgrade

Last year I rewired my Axis 24.1 to include a 410Ah LiPO4 (Redodo) battery and 3000W Victron Inverter. I interrupted the cable from the Alternator/Trombetta to the main positive bus bar with a DC-DC charger to limit the charge to the new lithium battery. I learned of the unintended consequences of this install when I ran my chassis battery down and the BiDirectional Isolator Relay Device (BIRD) wouldn’t allow me to jump from the fully charged house battery.

I'm a dentist, not an electrician, but still pretty handy and unafraid to roll up my sleeves and get dirty. I’m looking for any input on how to correct this oversight and restore this function to my coach and still limit the charge to the coach battery.

Here are the before and after wiring diagrams:

Your thread title "B.I.R.D not functioning after Lithium Upgrade" is mis-leading since you no longer have a BIRD - it's hard for it to function. I fixed that for you.

To restore the Emergency Start switch (ESS) function you need to cable the Trombetta main terminals in parallel with your DC-DC charger and wire the control wires from the house side positive, through the ESS to ground.

Thanks to you both!

It’s nice to know that it’s possible, and good to know that it’s not wise. I think I’ll just add a remote battery jump terminal behind the grill to make it a LOT easier to get cables to the battery in the future.
