Eternabond

I have seen some Youtube videos that advocate applying Eternabond to all seams and roof penetrations on trailer roofs as a more permanent alternative to maintaining the caulking in those areas. My question is, is this truly a better and longer lasting solution to roof maintenance? What are your thoughts.

Yes it is----IF, it's done correctly. It's certainly not necessary tho. My trailer is 15 years old, and all the seams (excluding the front cap) still have caulk. Which is still in good condition.

I used the Eternabond to redo the top outer edge of my slide do to a small hole in the existing Eternabond. Besides using it to replace an Eternabond repair. I personally would maintain and maintenance the caulking on the seams. Others might have other opinions but that’s just mine.

I go up on the roof and do a visual on the caulking twice a year. Mine is a 2016 stored outside and I usually have a few spots that I touch up. I am actually surprised on how well the caulk has held up. If I got to a point where I was having to recaulk the whole thing I probably would use the eternabond - but I don't feel I am anywhere near that. Most likely I won't own it when that's needed as my better half has been itching for something bigger.

I put Eternabond on all of the straight and 90 degree seams on our TT two years ago. Around the TV antenna and vents I still use caulk. Never regretted doing it.

I used Eternabond in 2016 to repair hail damage to a cracked sky light and air conditioner shroud (didn’t want to go through insurance for what I thought was relatively minor damage). The Eternabond repairs have stood up well. Is a long lasting remedy as long as it is properly applied.
