I noticed that the cooper gas line was resting on the steel of the stove/oven under the black anamel top. I believe the cooper will wear over time, being it is a softer metal. So I placed a sticky felt pad to the line where it contacted the stove/oven opening. This should keep the line intact and keep it from leaking gas into the rig.

I checked ours and it was the same way. Put stick on felt under ours so it will not rub the stove anymore. Thanks again for the find.

You are going to want to make that part of your yearly maintenance: Check that as the felt will wear away as well.

I thought I showed you that issue over a year ago? I fixed ours right after our DRV was delivered while troubleshooting why our cooktop had no gas to it. The contacts that open the solenoid had fallen off and would not allow the valve to open when the counter top was raised. I used a pc of fuel line. The hose should never wear thru.

I guess this is another item I should not be concerned about!

Using a piece of fiber-reinforced rubber hose (fuel hose) is probably the best long-term fix--as Cummins has done. A piece of gorilla tape over the hose would keep it from possibly slipping downward.

Joe when I read your post I thought "that would have been a good idea"! Just looked thru the vent holes in my cook top and it looks like I wrapped mine with electrical tape.

Great minds think alike I guess.

Not a good scenario no matter how it gets fixed it will possibly eventually wear through. Best fix would be to change the bend in the copper line if it has enough slack to avoid contact altogether. Absent that, you might consider cutting away some of the metal where the line enters in a horizontal crescent moon shape to accommodate the line in with no contact at all. I know it's a more detailed combersome fix but after all you sleep in there, why risk it?

It is easy to look under the hood once in a while. The fuel line I used is some thick tuff stuff. I prefer having some tension on the tubing VS vibrating around while traveling. Different strokes!

If this is a common issue on your models then everyone needs to file a complaint with the NTSB. You can do it on-line and believe me when I tell you that when they find safety violations in the RV industries they respond.


Case in point. Bought a new Montana fiver in 2014. Rear escape window latch immediately broke. Dealers and Keystone RV claimed they were out of them. This went on for months. Come to find out there were dozens of us that had these new broken escape window latches and they were not being fixed. Complaints completed and I got a phone call from National Transportation Safety Inspector within a couple weeks. In a couple more weeks a Keystone customer service representative called wanting to know how they could get the parts to me!
