Hi, I have a new 2019 Sunset Trail 242BH. For the first time this weekend I tested out the furnace on a cold night. The register in our master bedroom, which is metal, got really hot - to the point it was hard to touch. I measured the temperature of the register with a cooking thermometer and it reached 194 F. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks.

Definitely not right. I would be concerned and not use it until corrected. How were the other floor vents?

How close is that register to the furnace?

Thats the only floor vent - the others are plastic round ones coming from the side walls. I did not measure the temp of air coming out.

I am not sure of the exact furnace location. The heat exhaust vent is just to the left of the entrance door and the register is at the center end of the master bed. Looks to be about 6 - 8 feet.

But how close is it to the furnace. The closer it is the hotter it will be. Also get a different thermometer. A cooking thermometer will not read surface temperature correctly. A gas furnace will produce heat in the 130* -140* range. So if the vent is very close to the furnace it may indeed warm to the touch.

FYI - just wanted to post an update to my furnace "issue". I had a tech look at this a couple of days ago and he said it was normal since the vent is close to the furnace and we have an upgraded furnace which puts out more heat.
