Ford and Disc brakes

Does any body know for sure if the built in brake controller in the fords can handle disc brakes and if they do is there a setting that has to be changed?Edited by: KR2011

YES! One of the great features of the 2011 Ford is that the brake controler will handle the disk brakes. On mine, I cycle through the different settings on the intrument cluster and there is a setting for trailer brakes. You can actually set the controler to handle several trailers and identify each trailer differently.

Do you have to have a trailer plugged in to change these settings? I can get to the brake setting but it does not give me any options.

I don't think so but I don't remember. I think it was in the set-up mode

We didn't have to change PO # so instead of the end of march it will probably be the first week in April or so because we added paint.

They're now saying around the first of April the dealer should get it. Then they have to get the gas generator installed so hopfully the first 2 weeks of April. We are going to go do a factory tour while it's on the line being built.

We are going to the factory tour while they build ours and my friends as well. Sounds like all of ours should be delivered about the same time

We ordered ours today. we were told 6 to 8 weeks. I think everyone is told 6 to 8 weeks. I just don't see it getting built that soon.

Congrats on the order! From what I am seeing the average seems to be about 6.5 weeks.

6-8 weeks would put mine being done around the 2nd week of March....but now I'm being told after April 1st. They said the full body paint is an issue because they're selling so many of them and it takes a while to paint.

If that's the case it could be the middle or end of April for me

I don't know if our experience is typical but for the record, I ultimately bypassed the in-dash brake controller for an aftermarket Tekoneva. The factory in-dash controller was simply inadequate. I have hauled heavy trailers for many years using electric/hydraulic brakes and the 2012 in-dash brake controller on our Ford F450was not sending a sufficient pulse to activatehydraulic brakes. Very scary to not have brakes on a 20K lb trailer!The Tekoneva controller is adjusted to a very low settingfor the lighterRedwood disc brakes. The Ford factory in-dash setting for the Redwood was at the maximum 10 and was still not enough for my comfortlevel.
