Does anyone have a front door latch to keep the door open in the wind ?? Was thinking of installing one like the one that keeps the "toolbox" open

We have the regular door lock. The kind that has the bar that fits into a slot on the brkt on the door to keep it open. Along with that, I put the magnetic door thing like what is on the bedroom door to hold it open. This way unless the wind is real strong, I can just open the door and push it until the magnetic pieces connect, and I don't have to go down and latch it open. Still have to do the regular latch thing is the wind is strong and from the right direction.

Your doors swing easily?

Our door does not swing freely enough for even today's strong winds to move !

We thought that was the design so they didn't have to put in a catch :)

Oh no, the door is very stiff, but when trying to load and unload, with a strong wind, it will knock you off the steps

Our door moves freely, very little resistance. I lube it with silicon as I do most hinges on the coach.
The only stop we have is the one that comes with the coach...tell me more about the magnetic stop/catch??? Our closet door doesn't have a mag catch, just the plastic thing?

X2 - I've used the CRC lube on mine and it will swing one way or the other just bY autoleveling.

Boy if they got rid of that POS plastic catch on the closet - I'm all ears!

We have a 2012 36RL. The door, which swings to he left,at the top of the stairs that goes into the bedroom has a round metal piece, on the bedroom side of the door, with a indention in the top. On the top side of the closet is a metal piece that looks like a door stop with a rounded top. When the door is completely open the two metal pieces come together and the door is held open by the magnetism. This is because the door is hinged to the slide and comes in with it. I bought one just like it at a home store and use it to hold the entry door open.

Ah - excellent idea!

Can you now open your door and have it catch with the dads tool box hatch open? Mine won't now with the factory catch and its kind of annoying. which end did you put to post part on?

I can't have the door and the tool box door open at the same time with or without the latch because the door will hit the open tool box door. I have the post on the door, and I also put one on the tool box door so it would catch it also, so I can use it to hold the door or tool box door open.

While I really like the magnetic catch on the br door, another option might be velcro :) I used that on our previous 5er....

I found a metal version of the plastic latch at a boat supply shop. You can even adjust the amount of restriction.

Dan that would be super - West Marine maybe?

Brad I got it at a local boat supply

its called a "Brass Stud Catch" and its by seadog part# 35514 22219 its $5.95 CDN for a pair. I haven't tried to google it but I would think most boat supply shops should know what it is. Way better than the plastic thingy

Dan,

Thats the same link I posted. There are three different sizes in each finish...which size did you use?
