Furnace question

The wife and I have owned several campers, all were bought new until this one. We bought a 2021 Sunset Trail 253rb. Dealer gave us no manuals. The decals near the door say extreme weather package. We used it for the first time this weekend, nd the furnace seemed to run a lot during the night. At 27 degrees the furnace would run for maybe five minutes, the unit would run its cool down cycle and it would start heating again 10-15 minutes later. It never ran long, just way more often than in the campers we are used to.
I mentioned it to another camper in the morning and he said it’s probably programmed to run often to keep the under belly warm. We never got cold, and the thermostat never varied by more than a few degrees. Our last camper which we traded in would run longer and far less often in the same type of weather but internal temps would swing more.
Does the more often running of the furnace have to do with the extreme wether package?

The dealer probably did not provide the manuals because the first owner kept them. You can go on line and use the make and model number of the appliances download a manual for them.

RVs with a big slideout like yours heat harder then no slide, that may be part of it.
The Extreme Weather Package is really only an underbelly cover with foil insulation and a little more insulation. Also tank heaters. Mine had a larger furnace.
It should help a little.
It really sounds like your furnace is working normally. It's very hard to heat a camper like that when it's 27 degrees.

Thanks for the reply, my last camper did have a smaller slide. And we stayed in it well below zero very comfortably. We could stay in it below freezing and if we ran a small ceramic heater the furnace would only run 2-3 times a night. The dealer told us not to run a ceramic heater in this unit as it would keep the furnace from running, which would keep the furnace from heating the underbelly.
I’m not sure this unit has tank heaters, it has no switch for them. We were told it had a heated underbelly, but at this time I doubt anything the dealer said.

We have a 2023 253RB and camped in the freezing cold. You are correct, it was cold and the furnace was constantly cycling, we went through propane like it was diesel. First thing I did when we got home was to install an electric fireplace under the TV. As luck would have it our next camping trip had snow but we stayed toasty warm with the new addition. Don't even turn the furnace on anymore.
