We are about to venture into the RV lifestyle for the first time in January but received a concerning email and video produced by long time RVer's Phil & Stacy from their Youtube channel "Today is Someday". Their post states that big changes are coming beginning in January 2025 which will ban RV's in 11 states. We would suggest that you go to their channel and checkout the video because it sems that these changes will be affecting all of us.

Maybe we are not understanding their warning correctly but as newbies we are genuinely concerned and are now questioning our decision of venturing into the RV lifestyle.

Please watch the youtube video for yourselves and share your thoughts.

This video?

If I understand it correctly, the issue is buying a new RV in these states. You should still be able to visit these states with the RV you own if it is registered in your home state. I doubt "they" are going to confiscate your current RV.

California RV ban? What’s going on with a dispute over motorhome industry, regulator

Impact of CARB’s ACT Regulation On Motorhomes: What You Need To Know
In response to a question at the hearing about non-compliant vehicles coming in from out of state, CARB said that a used vehicle, defined as one with more than 7,500 miles on the odometer, could be brought in and registered. Any motorhome with less than 7,500 miles would be considered a new vehicle and would have to be compliant in order to be registered.

Seems some RV YouTubers are resorting to click bait to garner views. Chalk up another one. No mention that this only applies to NEW diesel motorhomes??

I suggest getting a broader perspective on your "news". I used to watch this channel until they started these tactics.

Well, they are click baiting - the statement is absolutely false
It's not 11 states either - it's 6: and at least 1 has already bailed on the requirement.

It's not RVs - it's SOME diesel motorhomes
The sky is not falling.
We already have a thread about this: https://www.thorforums.com/forums/f17/looking-new-mh-hurry-if-california-38512.html

If this is indicative of how they convey info in their channel you would do well to unsubscribe right away.

To clarify, my perfunctory perusal indicates it applies to all ICE vehicles with a GVW >8500 lbs (gas or diesel). RV's are caught in this because none of the heavy duty chassis manufacturers have "zero emission" vehicles available.

Thank you. We appreciate your response and advice. Apologies for bringing it up. We weren't aware that this issue was already discussed.

Every YouTube RV channel I have seen is what I refer to as e-beggars. They are nothing more than panhandlers on the street corner. Most of their content is intended to get free stuff. Either from outdoor companies via promotional videos that claim to be reviews or directly from RV companies. I wont watch any of them anymore. They are all crap.

Please don't view as a fault for asking. That is EXACTLY what a forum is for.

As an example for how anyone can fall for click bait.

I came to thread curious to see think what a Future RV may look like

Clickbait is not always intentional, but some of YouTube videos and other Websites go too far just to get views and subscriptions. And then if they do have something that you may think has value.... you have to wait to the end of video to say "is that it... "

If you considered it as life altering instead of doing some research...
If you reconsider an entire lifestyle and major investment due to one self serving video produced by someone you don't know anything about, and you didn't do any further research before exposing others to this singular Interpretation...
How should we participate?

Sorry to have brought up what you believe is an unfounded concern and question.

Actually from what I read about California, you will need to have an out of state Rv over a certain weight, will need to be inspected and permit issued in order to operate in California. In fact you may be stopped if the permit is not visible.
