So not sure if this is a good place to put this but thought I would let others know about our experience with General RV in Huntley IL.

So first off General RV Huntley IL sales department ranks BELOW Camping World. I have dealt with both now and WOW did General RV sales fail me. We first looked at our rig in April 2022 and there was RV antifreeze all over the floor. We were not ready to get it yet so we had to walk. In October of 2022 they still had the same unit. Should have been a red flag but we looked at it again. Same mess on the floor. Asked sales guy (Steve W.) about it. He said not to worry and all would be checked out. Why I believed a sales guy I have no idea. But we did. Steve takes all his notes on a small note pad and does NOT move them to the “official paperwork”. So nothing was ever documented. Again my fault for taking him at his word.

We worked out a deal and purchased it. When we picked it up all was cleaned up and we had a few other issues to resolve. One was a trim piece that was loose on the bedroom slide. He said they would get it fixed before we took delivery. They just pumped in a BUNCH of caulk and put a deep scratch in the paint below the slide. Total mess up. Had to setup a time in the future to repair or take it somewhere on my own to have it done.

Now we open it up in spring and same mess on floor. Take it back in to fix the scratch they put in the fall (we are about 100 miles away and waited until we got it out of storage). Also found a leak in the water system shutoff valve to the ice maker. This was the source of the fluid and never got fixed. Now sales are telling me “we don’t remember any of this” and that it is on me to fix. Since Steve did not put in the documentation about the issue they claimed it was a winterizing problem and would not look at it since I winterized it. So I had to fix the problem myself and it was just a bad connection on the valve. Something that should have been covered under warranty but General RV would not even look at it. No "winterizing" problem at all. Just poor workmanship at the factory.

So overall I do NOT recommend buying anything from General RV. Oh and do NOT contact customercare@generalrv.com. They do NOT care.

Sorry to rant but I just hope others will learn from what happened to us. I know I should never have believed the Steve as he is a salesman. I should have put everything in writing. I just expected more from General RV. Guess that is on me as well.

General RV and particularly their salesman may have done you wrong, but your problems seem minor and better than most new Thor RVs. Glad you finally got it fixed and now is the time to enjoy and put those problems behind you.

Yep they are minor and I can't wait to get this out on the road in a month. Just disapointed with how they handled it and thought I would pass it along.

Guaranteed if it's not in writing... you're on your own. There's rarely such a thing as a "gentleman's agreement" anymore... especially at a Wall Street RV dealer.

I agree with the others in that (other than paint damage) you're dealing with minor fixes. You're likely going to have many nuisance issues in subsequent years of ownership. If you're fortunate to be "handy", take it in stride... just roll with it and enjoy your travels! :)
