Generator

Have you checked the coolant level for the generator? We received our 2025 and the coolant was below full. The generator has a self preservation to cut itself off if it's going to overheat. Once we topped ours to the full cold level the generator ran just fine.
N/A Air Cooled Generators

I had the same issue and they found that the fuel line was kinked, it allowed enough fuel to start and run for a few minutes. they fixed the kink and i never had another issue.

So my generator won’t stay on! I have a 2023 Thor Windsport 29m. Turned on generator and ran for about 10 minutes and cut off. Both a/c units were off. Waited about 20 minutes and started it again. Same thing. Ran 10 or so minutes and cut off. Any ideas?
My 2023 Thor Miramar was doing the same thing to me. After verifing I had enough gas in the tank, I would take a screw driver handle and tap on the fuel pump. That would let me start it again until I got back from my trip. It turned out to be the fuel pump going bad. I replaced the pump and filter and no more stalls.

Had the same issue but mine would run for a couple of minutes and die. It had to do with the oil level in the gen. There was too much oil in the gen. Took some out and ran like a champ and is still running good.

Two ye as years ago we had this issue with our generator on our 2021 Chateau. The fuel filter had to be replaced, old gas had gummed up the filter. We had the mechanic install a shut off valve so we could run the generator dry once we're through with the generator. So far so good! I hope this helps you.

He already fixed it. He was low on fuel...

Glad you got it fixed. My generator does indeed stop when I am below 1/4 tank. We found out on a hot evening. If right at 1/4 tank the stall thing makes sense.

Thor MC gas coaches use air cooled gensets. Diesel engine powered coaches use propane (aircooled) or diesel gensets which are liquid cooled.

First is your unit level?
Secondly is the gasoline level in your unit ~1/2 full or more?
If yes to both, stay with the generator and be ready to assist the throttle by tethering the linkages at the top of the engine to override the governor.
I ended up replacing the fuel pump because the darn thing wouldn’t start. No works fine.
But in the first 5 or so minutes she wants to sputter and act quirky so I’m at the linkage ready to keep things going.

It's an air cooled Onan 5500. There is no coolant reservoir.

Would check the coil. Happened to mine, it would 'start' but not run. Came back as a bad coil.
Good grief! When are people going to actually READ the flippin thread and see he solved the problem by filling up the gas tank of the RV? Never? Eventually? Maybe? ....

Ya'all are about like a fakebook group.

I had a similar issue about a year ago, have you checked the oil to make sure that it's full. My generator wouldn't stay running either. When I checked the oil it was very low and when I topped off the oil it immediately started and has run fine ever since. The quarter tank of fuel in your rv's gas tank could also certainly also be the issue. Your oil in the generator should also be changed every 500 hours.

Mine won't operate if the engine is running - no other requirements.

The 1/4 tank thing was probably an industry standard because it makes too much sense.

Then people who had no idea of the purpose of cutting the generator pickup short of the bottom started assembling motorhomes. So now you get what you get - some are right - some are assembled to let you get that last drop of fuel out of the tank.
I would love to know what mine would do, but I never get that low on gas. I may have to call WBGO to ask how it was designed versus trying to FAFO

My Slide operates with engine on or off, but key must be turn to accessory position. However the manual says in with bold warning do not operate slide with engine off. They wish to ensure maximum voltage for operation from alternator. It was a big factor in why I bought a DC to DC over the LI-BIM, I didn't won't the randomness with the LI-BIM to apply voltage

@OP, I am glad you found your problem :clap2:

I did a survey type post a whole back and no one said this 1/4 tank thing happened to them.
I've ran mine 66miles past the low fuel light as a test.
The generator still ran.

It's a good idea to NOT try this as I did.
Are you suggesting that Thor has been lying to us? And, the reserve capacity thing is a myth?

Mostly likely, the cutoff point is well below the 1/4 tank mark, leaving just enough to get you to the next gas station.
My guess is that you needed to drive another 66 miles, or 166 more. And be sure to take a 5 gallon gas can on that trip.

My 05 Chateau with the Onan 4k will run way past the Fuel Light on so somewhere between 2005 and now they made the change to 1/4 tank thing.
