Getting logged out

Every time I revisit this site I find that I have been logged out. Once while typing a long reply after relogging in, I discovered I had been logged out and couldn’t send it.

Your sister Trawlerforum is doing the same thing. I have had to log in a dozen times each day. Clicking the Remember Me box at login doesn’t help.

FWIW, I am using an iPad with Safari.

I use Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac Book pro and have no issues with remaining logged in.

I assume you are talking about thorforum options. I don’t see anything about cookies.

David

I think he's referring to your browser options.

Sounds like you've covered the standard bases.

FWIW I have not experienced the problem on two Windows PCs with two different browsers. You may be alone out there.

Probably in admin console, again been a while

Pretty sure vbulletin gotta store some type of cookie on your device to remember u

Yes I understand that cookies would be kept by thorforum to identify me the next time I pulled up the site, but I have never disabled cookies on this site and don’t see a way to do it on this site’s options.

How do you do it on Safari. The AA icon to the left side of the url box at the top doesn’t do anything with cookies.

FWIW, TrawlerForum has kept me logged in the whole day so far, whereas Thor forum has logged me out a half dozen times, every time.

I am going to have to cut back on my participation in this forum. For the last week or so I always get logged out between visits. More importantly I get logged out in the middle of a long post, losing everything.

So I will check in a couple of times a day and limit my posts to a few lines.

And I have heard nothing from the moderators about this problem.

Actually, you have.

Two Site Team members as well as others have reported no problems with your issue.

In Post #7 i said "You may be alone out there" which infers the problem is on your end. As far as you have reported: the problem exists on one browser on one tablet.

Maybe try another browser on your tablet or another device altogether to narrow the trouble symptom. If you continue to have the same issue on all devices you try then it may be an account issue and we can escalate the issue.

I’m using an iPad with safari right now. T mobile home internet while camping. I’ve never been logged out.

Open a Safari browser window.
Select the “Safari” menu, and then select “Preferences” from the drop down menu.
The preference pane will open and then select “Security” on the top row.
Uncheck the checkbox "Block pop-up windows".
Close the Preferences window.

From your tablet or iPhone:

Open the Settings app on your device
Select "Safari"
Under “General”, locate “Block Pop-ups” and slide the button to the disabled position in order to allow pop-ups.

I just enabled pop ups as you recommended above. Will let you know in an hour if it works. FWIW, this is the first hopeful suggestion from anyone, moderators and all, that I have received so far.

If that doesn't work, try this

Safari app on your Mac, choose Safari > Preferences, click AutoFill, then make sure “User names and passwords” is selected.

It seems to have worked. I am still logged in after more than an hour. Will let you know tomorrow if it still works. If still logged in then I will consider the problem solved.

BTW, does clicking the Remember Me box on the login screen have any affect?

Thanks, David

It does for most everybody.

Well, no luck. About three hours later I was logged out. Back to the drawing board.

Make sure your browser isn't set to clear the history or cache after a certain period of time. Clearing the cookies for cache will cause the login cookie to be removed.

I use Safari and have pop-up and ad blockers enabled and I remain logged in for weeks at a time.

I looked and saw nothing in your profile that will prevent the "Remember Me" feature from working.

You can use the contact us at the bottom of the page and send a message to the sys admins and ask if there is something on the network server side that is causing the problem.

Have you tried using a different browser such as Chrome on the same computer to see if the problem is there as well.

Also, do you use some type of password management app, like Norton Password Manager? If so, check the settings there as well.

Feel free to send me a PM if you would like to compare Safari settings.
