Going from 2 AGM to 1 12V 300Ah LiFePO4 Battery

The folks that moved the chassis battery are brave! It looks like a pain. My rv tech in Montana cut a larger hole with a metal door on the passenger side under the dash

Great help here!
Soon my pain & suffering begins ...
Be sure to let us know when you start the wiring; so we can all shelter down. I hear some of those explosions created in New Mexico can be quite big. Texas might be too close for comfort; I may have to plan a trip further east when you are ready to start :ranger:

Funny Lora is laughing!

Speaking of wiring, ALL the on-line documents in my Thor Owners material for my 2022 Axis 24.1 states my charge controller does 4 types of battery. All the material lists Gel, AGM, Wet and Calcium. I was starting to explore what I needed to change over to lithium. Brilliant me decided to look at the actual charger in my Axis. It gives me a lithium choice.

I am glad! And lesson learned so now I am smarter today than I was yesterday!!!!!

I have a 2020 Vegas the folks here said I just change to li Lithium bim 225 & insert coach Lithium batteries?

Your 160 is fine but you have the 225 so you might as well install it.
Anyone who says differently about the 160 make them provide a proof as in...a proof.
They cannot.
They never have.

Can one install the li 225 bim with existing AGM coach batteries if I want to get started?

Yes, that Li-BIM 225 can work for both battery types, just do not mix AGM & Li batteries.

I ran my DC to DC on my AGMs awhile before finding the 300ah Lithium. I was gonna wait another year before buying the Lithium battery but that Newtipower just fell in my lap.

Hello experts this video suggests bim 160 ok if less than 200 ah lithium?
I only ask because if 300 does not fit, I have 2 100 ah lithium?
If the 300ah does not fit, I will take issue if you don't make it work. Buying two 100ah lithium in 2025 is old school. So I assume behind the passenger seat option is out of the question. If I follow your challenge is going to be dropping it end. You will have plenty of room side to side to hold and drop in with both hands. You are going to have to cut or grind maybe 1/2" for it to drop in square. If you do, be sure to sand it so it is smooth and will not cut you later. Mask tape around it so you can spray paint it black to look nice.

Also, you may wish to get blocks versus going with longer screws if it is that close to the top cover.

You doing the right thing, you got your Li-BIM, the 300ah may be coming. No more YouTube Videos to play havoc with the mind required :fishing:

Great advice. Lora & I are ready

Question bim 160 shows batt A & batt B. Li bim 225 shows batt chassis & batt coach.
When I put the multimeter on both Batt A & batt B shows 12.8 votts. Even red black multimeter reversed and reading 12.8.
Not sure if my batt A goes to batt chassis or same direction exact wiring?

There should be a 100 amp DC breaker under the hood as well. Trip it and see which side goes to 0. That's the chassis side.

You really should have your battery grounds disconnected when you go to make the replacement. You'll be dicking with positive battery cables that can easily be shorted to ground.

My breaker is hidden up behind the two a/c intake 3" hoses that end in front of the radiator.
Touch the intake hoses and then it's Just to your left and a bit behind the hoses.

If the BIM is used to 'jump start' the chassis battery from the coach battery, would there still be a breaker on that line? I would think the starter draws more than a 100 amps, no?

I see it. But when red or black multimeter probe is on either battery A or battery b reading was 12.8. Sorry there are no coach batteries all removed.. :(

So 12.8 must be chassis since all coach batteries removed. But batt A & batt b probe on both 12.8?
