Going Full Time in a Year

I'm Larry and my wife is Maureen. We looked into RVing a lot about 20 years ago. I was just retired from the Army and was back in school to become a teacher. We kind of let go of the RV idea until this last April when we got a call from an old friend whom we hadn't heard from for about 13 years. He and his wife had retired and were full time RVers. Spent an evening with them and decided it was time for us to do it.

Our plan is for me to retire July 2018 and spend this next year looking for a good used motorhome, get rid of our stuff, and sell the house. Well, we take possession of a 2013 40ft Thor Tuscany this Wednesday, so part of the plan is done.

We are so looking forward to getting on the road. We'll be able to use this year to get the Thor ready and take on a number of shake down cruises.

Wish you well in your planning. We have similar plan to go full-time RVing. Just sold the house. Downsizing to a condo (rental) while I finish up my last year before retirement. We are looking for a used diesel.

I lived full time in my 40' Tuscany for about 5 years and loved it!!! Like living in a small apartment and much better than the tiny houses you see on tv.

Full timing somewhere soon down the road is our plan too. Just not exactly sure when yet. Maybe we'll rent our house out for a year and see how that goes and decide from there. Congrats and good luck we're a little jealous..

Sounds like a well thought out plan. We will begin our full time adventure July 1 when I officially retire. Like you, we planned out well in advance and purchased our full time house on wheels last April. Now that we have the bugs worked out and only a few more weeks left, we are ready to go... just wish we could get a buyer for the house!
