My GoPower solar charge controller model GP-PWM-10-SQ shows "b01" code instead of voltage. Checked online, "b01" means "Battery disconnected or less than 3.0V" Drove around and it seems to be fine.

My question is, will that 3.0V damage my batteries? I am surprised that it can go that low and the controller has the mechanism to handle it.

Thanks for your knowledgeable advices.

Time of day? Lithium batteries?
Make sure controller is set for the right battery type.
If lithium they can sustain low voltage and can recover ok, Lead acids not so much.
Check for loose wires at solar panels and all along the way to the controller, as well as at the batteries themselves from controller.
I had the Go-Power 30W version, and swapped it out for an MPPT Victron for 20% more efficiency. I also have the Victron app and gauge installed.
Two Blue Sea 30A breaker switches allow me to disconnect battery and PV panels when working on the electrics as well. (lights on the breakers relabeled for PV and battery power- not reverse polarity...)

I have 2 lead acid batteries, checked on a rainy day. My concern is will that 3.0V measurement hurt my batteries?
Most likely lead Acid batteries are damaged- so see if they come back to 100% SOC and stay there they're probably ok. ... anything below 10V is bad. It's not that the You can also have tested at most auto parts places. The error code from the solar controller is just an indicator- so check your connections. The controller isn't likely to do the damage, but could exacerbate it. When batteries get that low, it's from some other cause- bad cell, loose wires, phantom drain, something left on, etc.

Had the same issue...turns out the fuse from the positive terminal of the battery to the controller was blown. Replaced it and all began to work fine.
