"H" Rated Tires on 2018-19 Redwoods

Has anyone had any issues with these tires? The ones that i have seen were a brand that I haven't heard of. Thanks

The Sailun S637 is the most recommended, and I have not seen a complaint about them. I have a set and the performance thus far has been excellent.

There are a lot of them out there now on Redwoods, so they are being put to the test and have been for several years.

You are correct and the Westlakes are G rated. I understood he was asking about upgrading.

Not sure how to read it but they ( Westlake) also furnish the 17.5-"H" tires to Redwood

Interesting. Didn’t know that. My 2018 came with G rated Westlakes rated for 55 mph.

Goodyear "H" Rated Tires

I notice that your trailer has Goodyear "H" rated tires. You just answered one of my questions. Good to know they make an "H". We have their "G" on our present rig and have been very pleased with them.

Although I haven't had occasion to use it, I've heard a benefit of Goodyear tires is if they cause damage to the RV because of tire failure, Goodyear has been reportedly very good about covering said damage. Or so some of our forum members have said. I went strictly by weight carrying capacity and advice of one of our Redwood owners who sold them as part of his brake sales and service business. He gave me such a sweet deal on wheels and tires I couldn't pass them up. Have put almost 9K trouble free miles on them. I couldn't be happier. I think it proves the old maxim "You get what you pay for".

My 2018 GK came with H rated Westlake tires from the factory. I didn’t order it this way and the 2018 Brochure states 8,000 lb axles and H rated 17.5 inch tires are standard equipment.

Seriously don’t be fooled. H rated or G rated? Check the speed rating of the tire. The Redwood provided Westlake tires at 17.5 inch are speed rated 62MPH. H&G are the load rating. Loads are important but sonisnsoeed rating. The same Sailuns are speed rated for 75 mph. Nice to think about when your rolling downhill.

The Westlake tires are only rated for 62 or 65 mph. The Sailuns are rated for 75 mph. I needed to replace one because of a spring breaking and the jack par stripping off the tread. The casing held until I was able to pull over. I bought a treplacement from Simpletire.com for $150. Sailuns are manufactured in China, but by the only Chinese tire company that is ISO 14000 certified.

2500 miles on my sailuns now , l scaled it this last trip 13800 on the tires. No issues, pulled it over the worst roads in the northeast ( and trust me 80 east and west is really bad). set the cruise at 72 and didn't stop until I had burned 60 gallons of fuel, no heat build up in the tires (roughly 20* warmer then the road). They are the only cheap import tires I would buy , Goodyear 114 is my first choice if money isn't a concern.

My 2017 36RL, manufactured in late 2016, came with 16" Westlake "G" rated tires . They have an L speed rating which is 75 mph. You really need to look at the tire sidewall to see what was delivered with the unit.
I do plan to go with Sailuns when these need replacement. However so far so good with the Westlakes.

We had goodyears on a Sanibel trailer, and had blow outs on 2 consecutive trips, Goodyear with no questions asked,paid for the tires and the damage. I then wanted to upgrade the tires, Goodyear then gave me full credit for the 4 16 inch tires and I upgraded to 17.5 Goodyears, which are now on our 2016 Redwood 38RL. I had these balanced and nitrogen put in, tire pressure has not varied at all through the seasons. Great company !!!!

I run my tires @ 100psi and they wear even and I have had no probblems

I have Westlake G rated 16 inch on a triple axle toy hauler, I have them balanced and nitrogen filled, I run 100 Lbs pressure, I may have close to 10, 000 miles, tires show no wear.
