With all of the talk of stinky water and such, let me throw this one out to the folks. Our new home in Kentucky has the hardest water we've ever experienced. Interestingly, the water is delicious but it leaves marks and rings on everything it touches. I don't know if it's coincidental, but the clothes don't get as clean and the dishes coming out of the dishwasher (DW is brand new) aren't as clean as our Joisey home. For those of you who have used hard, hard water, is this your experience? I'm beginning to think a water softener is in our future.

We are very happy with our softener, easy to regenerate and lasts a long time. Of course that depends on hardness. Fol-pur.

Spindrift,
You have described almost all of the results of hard water. We spend a few months in Arizona where the water is very hard. A water softener will do the trick.

we have very hard water here in tx and use a softener as well. we use ecowater and love it

We're in Louisville...not too far. I was in Knoxville for the first time last Fall. Beautiful little city. We camped at the Corbin KOA just because other CGs weren't open. Still need to learn where we can go as the KY SParks are quite small.

Hey neighbor, we are just outside of Louisville. I work at the Super Duty plant. A lot of great lakes around here.

A water softner may not be the answer. It uses salt. Not the best for you.If you only have hard water a iron filter may be the best option. The only way to find out is to take a water sample to a qualified water specialist and they will tell you your best option. For me I live in Wisconsin and my water is very hard.I use a iron curtain system, cleans up my water perfect. No salt.Iron curtain uses two tanks.1ST tank airrates the water.2nd tank runs through I believe 5 different mineral layers.

I'll be derned....who would have known? We'll have to take this offline for your recommendations.

Your more then welcome to PM me. In the next few weeks the Kentucky Derby Festival kicks off ,all kinds of stuff to do in Louisville then.

Forgot to mention, keep your eyes open there starting to road test the new Super Dutys around town.

The like to test them here in the Rockies - I'll keep my eye peeled for the black dress! Actually maybe they don't need to mask them, as I think the style is already public.

Yeah there not covering them anymore, but there keeping payloads and tow ratings pretty quiet.

Iron?! Willys...this is Kentucky, home of the best Bourbon in the world. All limestone here, which is what makes the beverage so good...so I'm told.

We've been in the Tucson area for 90 days. We are considering a water softener after cleaning the calcium deposits from the faucets. I don't mind the tasts of the hard water. But it does leave those pesky deposits.
