Has anyone had this problem

I own a 2023 Thor Tellero. I recently had my RV into a General RV dealer for a problem that I was having and a Courtesy Inspection was performed. I was told that the propane lines were dry rotted and although they weren't leaking currently, they should be replaced for safety. Has anyone else ever run into propane hoses dry rotting in less than two years. My warranty should cover the replacement but the information and photographs have been sent to Thor for determination and I haven't heard the result yet. I'll report back when I hear. I just have trouble believing that a hose would dry rot in two years.

Potentially.
You are at a dealership for a courtesy inspection. I would expect someone paid to find trouble to find trouble.
Google a few vids about rubber hoses and remember what to look for when looking for a bad hose.

Then tell them yes or no.

'Some random guy on the internet said my hoses were ok'.
Signed,
That Burnt spot on the interstate we all speculate about.

Are you using any kind of mouse repellent under there?
Some contain essential oils and will rot rubber components.
Motor oil will too, so make sure it isn't either of those.
I have a 2022 Tellaro, and will look at mine today. They should not rot in that short period of time.
LP = "Liquid Petroleum", so possible leak on hose connections?

Can you post some pictures here?

I've seen rubber hoses under cars that had been sprayed with undercoating. The undercoating can crack & peel making it look as though it is the actual hose failing.

Without pictures I can only make a guess. My guess is while you’re at the dealer look behind you see the driveway go thru turn right and never go back. Sounds like a dealer finding things that scare you so when they find warranty won’t cover you pay out of fear. At the very least get a second opinion before you agree to do that. IMO cheap propane hoses would cause big lawsuits that Thor would not risk to save a buck water pump yes , safety stuff no.

No, I'm not using any mouse repellent under there and there doesn't appear to be any motor oil there. I looked at the LP lines today and I didn't see any cracks or what I thought was dry rot. Unless the replacement is covered under warranty I'm going to want to see more evidence of Dry rot and cracks.

As you should.

I was at this dealer a little under two years ago for the radiator hose problem that Tellero was having and they did a great job for me. They were established dealers but new to General Motor Homes. Maybe the General mentality has taken over.

From experience verify anything General RV tells you, even good morning or afternoon.

Do yourself a favor and get an independent mobile tech to take a look at the hoses.

Mine are fine- I suspect dealer is pulling a fast one on you. Post pics so we can see the hoses.

On our 2022 Thor Tellaro, the propane hose cracked and had a major leak in Sept 2024. Only about 2 years old. Was covered under warranty, but definitely a major safety issue. We're lucky that we always travel with the propane valve closed. Heard loud hissing noise at campground when opening the valve. I highly recommend replacing that hose now.

Well , I THOUGHT mine were ok, unti, I peeked underneath on the passenger side!! No evident leaks, but not using until I replace! I'll just DIY- dealer is useless.

WOW Mark... looks like you were bitten by the "excess materials" monster again! Instead of using proper length of hose, Thor goonies were instructed to just double/triple up long hoses and attach them any way possible. Those 90° bends, combined with exposure to vibration and exposure to elements did a number! Good catch!

My propane hose cracked in the driver's side. To me, it looked like the hose wasn't long enough, it was a tight 90 degree turn to attach to the tank. I did send Thor an email complaining about this major safety hazard but never heard back.

I might look at 90deg. fittings... I removed enough wire for 2 more Class B RV wiring too.
