Hello...Anyone with 2014 Ram 3500 and B&W Companion 3600 hitch?

Hi Todd,
No problem at all on the delay. I just appreciate the help! I am interested in knowing what position your Trail-Air is in...upper or lower. You mentioned a picture...but I don't see one other than your sig photo. Theresa did post a photo earlier of the hitch installed in the bed, so I have seen that one.

Also all you Ford guys (which I used to be) let me tell you there is no comparison in my opinion between the Ford and the Ram, the Ram out performs in all respects, pulling power and the feel of you being in control instead of the trailer. I pulled for 5 years with that Ford so I had a few miles. I am very pleased with my swap to the (dark side) as some people say. :)

I love the Ram as well. I'm a first time truck owner, and my original plan was to go with the DuraMax/Allison. But after driving all 3 brands, I definitely liked the Ram the best. And, I got a loaded Laramie at a great price and for less than the others, so that sealed the deal. But as others have said, these trucks sure have come a long way and they are all amazing! Driving it home from Tampa the other night, we got nearly 21 mpg in total comfort with all of the luxury and comfort you could want. Now if I could only get that mileage towing!

Hi Todd,
When you get a chance, I would appreciate knowing what position your Trail-Air is in...upper or lower. On mine, there are four holes for the three bolts, allowing it to be adjusted to the top or bottom three holes. Just wondering where yours is set up, since it seems you have almost exactly the same combination as I do. I haven't ordered the Companion hitch yet, but that's my plan.

HI Vince, it's "stock" so whatever came from the factory. I am having Todd take a picture of it now. Looks like the middle three holes are used. We are leaving on our first real trip tomorrow. About a 200 mile tow. I am a little nervous, but hopefully everything will be fine. Here it is:

Perfect. Thanks so much! That's the same as mine is now. I was afraid I'd have to move it up...and for sure it has to be heavy once those bolts are out. Looks like I won't need to change a thing.

I don't have the Dodge, but do have the B&W & you will really like how easy it is to use, hitching/unhitching is a snap other than having to have a stool to reach over those truck hips.

Interesting picture. On my factory Trail Air I have 6 bolts on each side whereas you only have 5. I wonder why?
 
I also have 6 bolts on each side of the pin box on my 2012 36RL with the Trail-Air.

Interesting. Mine was built around June 2013. Wonder if they realized 6 was overkill and cut them back to 5 on each side at some point late last year?

What rear end is in your Ram? 4.10, 3.73, or 3.42. We are looking at a new Ram and I think I would prefer the 4.10 rear, but am not sure.

My Ram has the 3:73 just like my F 350 had and My Ram pulls my 38GK just fine, and I get 16.8 mpg when not pulling. I am a very happy camper and Ram owner. :)

In doing my research, it seems that I want the Aisin transmission too. That option adds quite a bit of towing capability. A Laramie dually CC with 4.10 and Aisin will tow 29,000 lbs. The same truck with the 68RFE tows in the 23,000 range. With a 3.73 and Aisin, it tows 23,000, The same truck with a 68RFE tows around 19,000.

I'm thinking I want the Aisin transmission and the 4.10 gears. That way I could tow just about anything I want. However, most trucks I have found on the dealer's lots are sporting the 3.42 gears. Some have the 3.73's, but the 4.10 geared trucks are hard to find here in Iowa.
